tea-drinking stamper

I find I like so many designer papers but just don't use them up as quickly as I should. Sometimes it's because I like them so much I decide to hoard them; other times, I just don't have enough left of one design to use for a class so they accumulate. But I am determined to use up as much of that old paper as possible before purchasing much more. For this card, I used some of the paper designed to accompany the Christmas Quilt stamp set. In order to use this in one of my stamp classes, the ladies received different designs and complementing colors. They were either Real Red with Garden Green or Garden Green with Real Red. That way, the stamp colors coordinated no matter which paper they used. I fear ribbons have accumulated the same way the designer series paper has, so I'm also trying to use that up. I just love the Country Home suite! I've created a number of cards with this stamp set and its coordinating designer paper. The one I'm sharing here is very easy and uses the popular cotton stalks.  I actually used my light Smokey Slate Stampin' Blend on the bases of the cotton bolls and pulled the color outward with my color lifter. Added a little texture and made them stand out a little more on the Whisper White background. I made this card twice, once using the rustic pitcher and the second time using the milk can. The ribbon is discontinued but adds that special extra touch. Sorry it has taken so long to finish posting the "Eight Cards in a Flash".  Here are the final three cards we made (see previous posts for more information). All cards include designer paper created by stamping all over an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of Whisper White card stock using the Painted Harvest stamp set and Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede and Tranquil Tide Classic Stampin' Pads. This first card also uses the retired Acorny Thank You stamp set with its coordinating Acorn Builder Punch.  The card below employs the Stylized Birthday stamp (page 80 in the annual catalog). This final card is made with the Basket of Wishes stamp set and blender pens.

My customers voted to postpone our Foxy Friends class so we could do a class of Fall cards. One of the cards we made used the new Basket of Wishes stamp set and involved painting with Blender Pens. I love this stamp set. I the sunflowers in the basket with curved handles on a gift bag of sorts (see a previous post). There are strawberries and succulents, as well as a quart basket to choose from. Plus greetings! I was using up some Candy Dots and Pumpkin Pie cotton ribbon on this card, products that have been discontinued. As I've said before, I'm just loving the Sparkly Seasons stamp set! Working with the Nutcracker version once again, I designed this card for stamp class this week. Our Glimmer Paper works so well for dressing up Christmas cards. And it fits with the greeting! This card has no fussy cutting involved. I have learned how to use lovely but flimsy Metallic Thread without struggling to tie it. For this card, I merely wrapped the gold thread around three fingers several times and pinched the resulting loops together before laying it on a glue dot. A clear button covered the glue dot nicely. The card I made for my niece's birthday was a variation of the card shown below. I expect to give this to my granddaughter for her birthday tomorrow, although I wonder if the two girls will compare or notice the similarity. Hmm... With the assistance of my Big Shot, this is not a difficult card to make. I did not order the bundle, however, because I figured my Circles Collection Framelits would work and I couldn't see myself using the words since I don't do Halloween and I already have the Hello You Thinlits. However, this circle is in between sizes, so I ended up trimming the snow globe. Plus I "fussy cut" the base for the globe. So now I'm wondering if I should have ordered the Thinlits anyway. I do love the Sparkly Seasons stamp set! I have always had a special fondness for snow globes and have a small Christmas collection. And this set includes a pumpkin, a snowman and a nutcracker. My niece turned seven this week and my sister thought cardmaking would be a great activity during the party. So I designed a super quick, super easy card using our wonderful note cards so they would have envelopes to go with them. This was also a great opportunity to use some of the retired paper (the Pistachio Pudding that I love so much). I used just one stamp set, Sparkly Seasons (15 photopolymer stamps for $26, 139825). I used color-on-color for most of the stamping: Pistachio Pudding-inked leaves on Pistachio Pudding cardstock, Pumpkin Pie-inked design on Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Everything else is Always Artichoke. All the girls did very well. One even turned hers sideways to make it different from the rest. The 2½" Circle punch worked just fine for cutting out the pumpkin.
