Tranquil Tulips Stamp Set

Image
I really worked on using a number of retired colors for this great Hostess photopolymer stamp set. I have always loved tulips and recall when Stampin' Up! had another tulip set. Of course, I always tried to sell off my discontinued stamp sets but I am discovering there are some sets I wish I had kept. I think this is one of those! For all the time I have had this, I never really thought about the other flowers; I was always focused on the tulips. But I find that the more I look at this card, the more I love it and wish I had used it much more frequently. All the colors are retiring, except the Whisper White card stock, of course. Cozy Cottage

Image
I love this stamp set and wanted to come up with a unique design for a card using it. I think I succeeded. The Cozy Cottage set is a hostess stamp set in the Occasions Catalog. I used my Aqua Painter to watercolor the image. I  used Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz to get different shades of green for the mountains, trees, shrubs and grass. I love the fact that the Glitter Enamel Dots come in varying shades, which make them easy to use. I also love the fact that they are placed on transparent sheets so I can lay them against my card before removing and attaching them. Products Used:  Cozy Cottage rubber stamp set (7), W 145940; C 145943; $17 and $12 hostess dollars, respectively 6" x 9" Watercolor Paper (5), 122959 $5.00 Whisper White  8-1/2" x 11" Thick Cardstock (24), 140272, $7.00 Pear Pizzazz 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (24), 131201, $8.00 Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad, 140931, $7.00 Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad, 131173, $6.50 Crumb...

Nuts About You Valentines

Image
When preparing for my January class, I determined to use the Nuts About You stamp set to make a Valentine card [this is a hostess stamp set and can only be purchased with earned hostess dollars]. As so often happens, I was not totally happy with the first card I designed but persevered and came up with one I did like. Then, later, I decided I really did like the first design after all, but I had already made the pre-cuts from the second design. The top one is the one we made in class. Because of the direction the bird faces, the layout of the Very Vanilla card is a better design. Products Used: Nuts About You stamp set (11), W 133943, $14.00; C $10.00 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Cherry Cobbler 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119685, $6.95 Soft Sky 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131203, $6.95 Pistachio Pudding 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131294, $6.95 Che...

Hang in There

Image
We made this card at my July class and I sent one to my brother-in-law who has cancer. Thought he would appreciate it (he did). I have to admit, I just love most of the hostess sets in the current catalog and I now own three of them. Usually, as a demonstrator, I avoid those sets because I know they will only be available for one year. That tells you how much I love these hostess sets. I can see a number of occasions this set would be great for. Admittedly the strip of dsp is from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper, now retired. Of course, you could stamp the design with one of the stamps from the Work of Art set (134111). Hostess sets are exclusive to those who host workshops or place an order of $150 or more. You purchase them with hostess dollars at a price before their market value. For example, this wood-mount set would be $22.95 but is priced at just $14 for hostesses to use when cashing in their hostess benefits. Products Used: Nuts about You hostess stamp set (...
