This card is one of the first ones I designed with the Sailing Home stamp set. It's another one of those that I didn't like at first but it grew on me. I haven't used the rope die often, but it really impresses me. I also like the banner die with it's 3D look and stitched edges. It's just that I have so many thank you cards and need so many birthday cards. Yet I love the font used on the "Thanks" included in the set. It fits the theme of the stamp set so perfectly. Note: I used Stampin' Dimensionals behind the dry embossed Pacific Point card stock and behind the lighthouse. That meant I needed dimensionals behind the tails of the banner across the lighthouse. I am so far behind on my blogging that I'm posting about cards I made for a class a couple months ago.  I love the Sailing Home Stamp set and designed a number of cards with that set. This is just one of them. I had some designer series paper left from last year's color family paper stacks and incorporated a strip of that in this card.  There is something so appealing about light houses. And sea gulls. I love watching those feisty creatures. I had one in my driveway while my granddaughters and I were filling the bird feeder. I left the bin of seed on the driveway and we stood silently to watch him. They are such thieves by nature. So he crept up near the seed bin, then rushed in and took some seed and rushed away. He then acted like he hadn't done a thing. So funny. This is the first card I designed when I received my Beauty & Joy stamp set. I would have used it at my stamp class, but one of my regular attendees doesn't like to fussy cut, which is how I cut out the leaf after stamping with a retired stamp set.  I actually cut it from the Mossy Meadow piece that has only the edges showing. The way I cut things with scissors from the middle of a piece of card stock is to punch a hole first so I can insert my scissors without bending the card stock. I love the acrylic shapes we used to have that came in every color family. Since I still have some left, I had to use one on this card. Although it may be difficult to tell, I took the idea for this card from one of the samples in the annual catalog, page 48. But I added circles as well as fussy-cutting the leaves, although one of my class attendees hates fussy cutting. I actually find it quite relaxing. I used the largest stamp, the scene, as a background stamp, stamping Old Olive on Old Olive, for subtlety. I then used three different size circles from the Stitched Shapes dies, cutting one from watercolor paper, one from Terracotta Tile card stock and one from Vellum card stock. I used inks and Aqua Painters to color the squirrel on his rock. I had more fun playing with the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders and mixing them with the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. Lovely Lipstick is one of my very favorite colors and so I want to use it a lot before it leaves our book in June of 2020. My stamping for the first card was done using Lovely Lipstick, Garden Green and Basic Black.  You will notice I used old Candy Dots on this card. I had accumulated so many before they were discontinued that I have decided to use them whenever possible. The background paper is from last year's In Color pack. This year's catalog also includes packs of In Color dsp but with slightly different patterns, so this card could use one of those sheets and work just as well. Sometimes it's nice to just grab scraps sitting in my work area and put them together for a needed card. That's what I did for this card, a birthday card for one of my customers. That meant I couldn't use a card we have made in class before because she is one of my most faithful attendees. And this one also allowed me to use more of my departing In Colors!  I never liked Lemon Lime Twist, but since the gingham I have come to love it. And now it's leaving our book! These strips of gingham dsp were left after cutting the 6" x 6" pieces to fit the needs of other cards. The Healing Hugs stamp set is one of my favorites, probably because of the disINKtive stamp style. But there are many more appearing in the new annual catalog. Flipping through my demonstrator magazine, I discovered a 3D project that I thought would make a great card and so I altered it accordingly. Because dies came out to coordinate with this set, Hello Cupcake, I made it twice, once cutting out the pieces (I don't have the dies so it was fussy cutting) and once flat. In all honesty, I almost think I like the flat card better! I inked up a block to stamp the background for my greeting. Such an easy card! I am making a conscious effort to use that gorgeous designer series paper I so readily purchase! Choosing my paper before actually designing the card allowed me to choose my colors accordingly. Originally I wasn't sure I was going to like the new core color, Mango Melody, but this paper made me love it! I purchased the Botanical Tags Thinlits without the stamp set because I think they are so versatile. I really thought I wanted to make a bookmark with them (and I did make one as a gift for those who placed orders at my stamp class). But I thought the birds fit very nicely with the flowers on the paper. As you can tell from a previous post as well as this one, I know a number of people who have reached a new decade. I am loving the Flying Home stamp set colored with Stampin' Blends and then cut to accomplish this new favorite technique. At this point I have managed to use every image in this set, except the little bumble bee and butterflies. Look closely and you will see the raised 90 on this card front. The Hold on to Hope stamp set is more versatile than you would originally think. This is another card we made at my stamp class last week. I love the unexpected color combination! For this card, I used Stampin' Write Markers to color the rubber stamp before placing on the card. I think this is one of my all-time favorite cards. Although the set comes with framelits dies, I didn't use any of them. I hope you like it as much as I do. I sponged around the edges of the banner and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. When using our sponges, I cut one large sponge into four pieces. I know of others who actually cut them into 6 pieces.  In all honesty, I didn't think I liked the Lemon Lime Twist color when it first came out, but I have come to love it since I've been using it.
