Birthday Chick

Image
I had fun trying to make this little chick look like she's holding a balloon under her wing. Not sure I quite made it, but... I played around with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, touching the neck feathers and tips of wings as well as some of the "balloon" and her eyes. I needed a little butterfly that was fluttering in the right direction, so I took it from the Hey, Girl stamp set. Perfect! World Traveler Birthday

Image
You may tire of seeing all the cards made with this Limited Time Sale-a-Bration stamp set, but it just shows how much variety can be achieved with one simple set. This car was a little more complicated than most, which is why I chose not to make it at my stamp class this week. I used my brayer to roll Marina Mist ink on the labeled side of the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. What was difficult was keeping the ink off the large land mass of Europe and Asia. I thought I had cleaned off the excess, but some still showed up; hence the size and location of my birthday banner. I fussy cut the airplane and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I then added a little Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (didn't show up when I scanned it) to the top edges of the plane as though the sun were reflecting off it. The addition of sequins (left over from the Cottage Greetings Card Kit) filled in some of the empty space next to the greeting and added that bit of extra bling...

Hey, Girl Stamp Set

Image
My granddaughter's fourth birthday led to the design of this card. She's such a little lady. Nearing the end of her celebration last night, she put on a princess nightgown, came downstairs and strolled across the room looking for all the world like she'd been trained to walk like a model. At one point, she crawled on my lap and undid the scarf I was wearing because, she said, I was too warm in it. She then strutted around wearing the scarf before she transformed into a Star Wars character. My little lady disappeared. Anyway, I once again did a lot more "fussy cutting" than I had planned when I started this card. I new I was going to use the "Hey, Girl" stamp set and decided to use a piece of "Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper" (Sale-a-Bration Limted Time item) for my background. I heat embossed the little girl, making it easier to color her in (and to cut her out when my design turned that direction). I used my Blushing Bride and Calyp...

Redesigning

Image
With some leftover cutouts from my recent class, I decided I didn't want another of the same card. As I contemplated what stamps to use with the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper, I remembered one of the stamp sets my four-year-old granddaughter wanted me to order. I didn't think I would ever use the Dress Up stamp set for myself, but it just seemed to fit this dsp. A little bling and some corner rounding... Voila! I can think of several friends who would love this card. The dsp and the twine are Sale-a-Bration items and today is the last day to place an order that qualifies for some of this free product. Remember, you qualify for one free product for every $50 you spend. Products Used: Dress Up stamp set (8), W 131981, $24.95; C 127319, $17.95 Six-Sided Sampler stamp set (11), W 130953 $26.95; C 130956, $18.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Basic Black 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121045, $6.95 Sweet Sorbet 12" x 12...

Birthday Blast

Image
I have thought some of the designs in the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper have appeared childish, but I have come to realize that it all depends on how you use it. Take the sheet of numbers. Definitely for a child's card. Not! Mixed with the Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-a-Bration) and Basic Gray card stock, it is perfect for a man's birthday. I am going to miss the Raspberry Ripple in color when it leaves our color families in June, which is the color I used for the base as well as the color of the ribbon. I worked in all the colors of the dsp for the mini banners. Products Used: Perfectly Penned stamp set (4), W 128703, $16.95; C 122892, $12.95 Banner Blast stamp set (10), W 133551; C 133554, Free with $50 purchase Raspberry Ripple 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 126842, $6.95 Basic Gray 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121044, $6.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Birthday Basics 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper...

Happiness Is...

Image
This card is fairly plain, but just plain happy, which is why the greeting is so appropriate! I fear, however, I broke a rule and used three different stamp sets to make this card. Everything except the greeting and the neutral card stocks in this card came from the Sale-a-Bration brochure: two stamp sets and the designer series paper. If I hadn't been pre-cutting the card stock for my class, I would have cut the smaller black layer from the larger one, but I was more interested in saving time than scrimping on my card stock. Products Used: Happy Watercolor stamp set (8), W 133188, $29.95; C 133191, $21.95 Petal Parade stamp set (5), W 133599, Free with $50 purchase Banner Blast stamp set (10), W 133551, C 133554, Free with $50 purchase Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Basic Black 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121045, $6.95 Sweet Sorbet 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 133521, Free with $50 purchase Sweet Sorbet Acce...

Using our Fabric

Image
The pattern I used for this book (it will be my granddaughter's birthday present next January) was for a Kindle cover, but I adapted it to hold a drawing pad and colored pencils. I chose to use Summer Smooches fat quarters (125411). Although its full price is $9.95, you can order it this week, while supplies last, for half price - $4.98. I may re-post two other projects made with our fabric.

Last Day of Sale-a-Bration

Image
Since the is the last day of Sale-a-Bration, I decided to post a card made with the Feeling Sentimental stamp set available for free with a $50 purchase. You have until midnight tonight to place an order and receive your free products for every $50 you spend. I always need birthday cards but seldom have any that are suitable for men. So I decided to use a Sale-a-Bration stamp set along with some retired designer series paper (this is Poppy Parade from a previous year's In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, designs of which remain the same in our current paper stacks, so you could duplicate this card in another color). The card itself is Naturals Ivory card stock and I used Staz-On ink to stamp the telephone booth before "painting" with a blender pen and Poppy Parade classic ink. I think the Basic Black behind the Ivory made the image and greeting pop. The brads are leftover from last year's Sale-a-Bration.

More Patterned Occasions

Image
Here are two more cards made with the Patterned Occasions stamp set available from the Sale-a-Bration brochure for absolutely free. These products cannot be purchased, but you can choose one set of stamps, designer series paper, ribbons & buttons, punch, etc. with every $50 you spend. The texture on these two card is simply punched out shapes aligned on the front of the card. Adds so much to the card and is so simple to do. Remember, you can only acquire these products through March 22nd.
Image
Well, I never made my way to the computer yesterday to upload more samples of cards made with Sale-a-Bration products. But I'm here today with three more. You have just over two weeks to place your orders and earn free Sale-a-Bration products, one for every $50 you spend. These cards feature the Patterned Occasions stamp set. A couple are shown in an unusual way since the ribbons extend beyond the edges of the cards. The ribbon on the above card is from the seasonal catalog and comes in Marina Mist and Old Olive as well as the Melon Mambo (shown). Isn't the clothes hanger clip cute? It is also from the spring catalog and is part of the "Hung Up" Cute Clips set. The Tangerine Tango ribbon and button and dsp are all Sale-a-Bration products.

Pretty Petites for Sale-a-Bration

Image
The cards I'm sharing with you today feature the Pretty Petites stamp set as well as the Petite Curly Label Punch. But you'll also find more than just those Sale-a-Bration items on these cards. The first card uses a flower from the Flower Trim in the seasonal catalog as well as the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack from the same catalog (that's the 4½" x 6½" double sided pad of dsp). So pretty. This second card uses one of the buttons from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack and the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, both from the Sale-a-Bration promotion as well.  And the uniquely shaped clip holding the "hello" is from the pack of Hung Up Cute Clips, seasonal catalog. The dsp on these last two cards is from the Sale-a-Bration pack of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper. Don't forget: Sale-a-Bration ends March 22nd, so be sure to place your order before then if you want any of these great products! I'l...

Bloomin' Marvelous

Image
Here are two samples of cards made with the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set available only through the Sale-a-Bration Brochure. Remember, those products cannot be purchased. You make your number of choices based on how much you spend on other products.  These cards also use flowers cut from the Flower Trim in the current seasonal catalog (page 4). They add so much dimension yet are soft enough to flatten out during mailing so you don't have to pay extra postage for a thicker envelope. The Primrose Petals designer paper is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack, also sold in the seasonal catalog (page 16). This stack is unique for Stampin' Up! because each of the 48 sheets is only 4½" x 6½", allowing you to acquire a variety of designer series paper for less money ($6.95).

More Madison Avenue

Image
Looking for more samples of Sale-a-Bration products? I'm going to try to keep them coming for you. Two of these cards include the some of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper, available only as a free item when you spend $50 on regular products.  The same cards have buttons and ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration brochure. The other card (top one) includes items in our current seasonal catalog. Hope they inspire you! Once again, these are Aly Schilling's designs. We demonstrators gathered together to make a stack of Sale-a-Bration cards so we would have plenty of samples to show our customers without having to acquire all the products in the brochure.

Sale-a-Bration's Vintage Verses

Image
I can't believe I've stayed away from this blog for a whole 2 weeks! But I hope to be posting more regularly once again. Sale-a-Bration is in its final month tomorrow—and it's not even a full month at that! So I decided to start featuring cards from that brochure. Fall in love with the stamp sets or other products and place an order. For every $50 you spend on Stampin' Up! products, you get to make a selection from the Sale-a-Bration brochure. The following cards feature the Vintage Verses stamp set. I will confess that these cards are not my designs. My upline Aly Schilling designed these for all the demonstrators below her to use. Most of the dsp on these cards is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack (48 sheets, 4½" x 6½" in a pad). Some great ideas in these designs. Don't forget, Sale-a-Bration ends March 22nd!

Free Gift on Me

Wouldn't you just love to receive a set of markers in the 5 new in colors—for free? Or an ink pad with a pack of matching card stock in the luscious Concord Crush? The Concord Crush, I fear is leaving our catalog June 1. The new in colors have such fun names as Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, and Midnight Muse. And the Concord Crush is the rich purple of—what else?—Concord Grape Juice. I love the Concord Crush and it coordinates nicely with our Wisteria Wonder, last year's in color that will still be available for another year. What's the catch? Host a workshop for me in the month of June. The first two to do so will receive one of those two items, the first one being able to choose. By the way, the markers would cost you $14.95 to order them yourself, plus shipping and tax, of course. The ink pad and card stock would cost $12.90. And June is a great month in which to host a workshop because it is the first month with the new core catalog...

Fresh Vintage Stamp Set

Here is the final batch of cards from the stamp night for our demonstrator team (Heartfelt Stampers). I knew as soon as I saw this set that it would be my favorite. Just love, love, love it!
