Our assistant pastor's wife just gave birth to a baby boy. Of course, that means a baby card. Now, I don't have a lot of baby stamps because at my age I don't expect to make a lot of them. Then again, I'm finding that being active in my church means I still need to make them on occasion. And, too, I have friends who are becoming grandmas for the first time or once again. This card is made with leftover Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper as well as some leftover Pool Party ribbon. The stamp and coordinating punch are new, but the baby onesie is part of the Baby Tees jumbo wheel. Since the wheel made several different suits, I made a stack of cards using up more of the retired dsp.  The "congratulations" is from the Delightful Dozen set but is stamped with our new Baked Brown Sugar In Color.

Only 17 days left of Sale-a-Bration and I'm still using as much of my free products as I can during this final month. I did use the Bear Hugs stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog for this set, however. My task was to make thank you notes to include in a baby shower gift. The different card is the card from me to the new Mom. I chose one of the papers from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper pack for the background on these cards. The ribbon comes from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack. I colored the rattle, bib, booties and diaper cover with markers but used my blender pens for the bear himself because it gave me the shade I wanted—the Soft Suede and Crumb Cake markers were just too dark. For the card from me, I used some of the scraps of dsp on a piece of Soft Suede card stock. Yes, I used the Build a Blossom stamp set. I even used the Blossom Petals Punch for the body, but the fins and tail had to be cut by hand. Isn't he cute? Such a quick and easy card! My daughter is always in need of baby cards, so I decided to whip up a few. In my box containing the Animal Stories stamp set, I found three stamped and assembled giraffe images that were leftover from card swaps I made for the Syracuse Regional that wasn't (snow storm last February). I decided take the easy route and incorporate those pieces in my designs. It's difficult to see, but I used the tiny dotted side of a sheet of Pear Pizzazz designer paper for the background of the first two cards. For the second card, I paired it with the texture embossed solid Pear Pizzazz card stock. I thought the Pear Pizzazz nicely complemented the Pumpkin Pie giraffe. The three words, "sweet", "little", and "one" are individual stamps in the Fundamental Phrases stamp set. To align the words more easily, I put all three clear-mount stamps on one acrylic block. Here we have an ensemble of stamped items for that new baby! The card on the left will hold a baby picture and all the pertinent information. The favor next to it is perfect for the babys hower. The designer series paper is cut with the Perfect Settings Bigz xl Die, then a washcloth is twisted to fit inside. Add the double scalloped circle with stamped image to a toothpick inserted in the washcloth and you have a great favor. An invitation tag fits perfectly into this diaper-shaped envelope (a close-up is shown below). And, of course, the new mom will need a pack of thank you cards to send out after the shower, so why not make them to match the rest of the shower theme? For these items, you'll need the Nursery Suite Specialty Designer Series Paper, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White card stock, in addition to the Big Shot, Perfect Settings Die, Scallop Circle Punch and two circle punches. I'm still saying a fond farewell to many of the retiring colors. Why did I ever think I would be able to use up all that card stock? I had just inventoried and restocked my supplies when I received the announcement, so I guess I'm going to start selling off the what I have in paper, inks and markers. The card below was made in an effort to use up old rub-ons as well as card stock. I used to use Brilliant Blue often enough to warrant two ink pads and now I'm saying good-bye to it. The card below uses Green Galore, Brilliant Blue and Whisper White. There is no stamping on this card; the flowers are a rub-on. I kept looking at the colors in this card and admiring them. The next step was to look through my supplies of card stock that appear in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog to find a combination that will provide nearly the same effect. I started off making a card for my neighbor who is a new grandmother, then decided I like the verse from "God's Blessings" for a new baby, that I would add a note to our granddaughter based on that verse and give it to her for her book. But I'm still making one for my neighbor, too. In addition, I decided the card colors and design are unusual enough that I would use it for my card fronts to swap with other demonstrators at the regional convention in Syracuse. There will be some variations since I don't have enough white grommets (Designer Hardward, 114348, $6.95)--I'll use jumbo brads or jumbo Designer Brads (page 179 in the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog). To reproduce this card you would use cardstock in Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, and Sahara Sand and classic inks in Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay ink.
