Hello Kiss

Image
I'm preparing for my upcoming July stamp class, which includes the Kiss technique. No, this doesn't use your lips; it uses stamps and textures. And this card features Strawberry Slush, one of our luscious in-colors.  I used a jumbo wheel for this card, but another version of the technique is accomplished with two stamps. If you look closely, you will see a light design in the otherwise solid butterflies. By the way, the card is white, but the edges didn't show up so I laid a piece of Strawberry Slush card stock behind it. If you've never used one of our wheels, you must have a handle to hold it for you as you roll the design on your card stock. The handles come in two sizes and are not pricey, plus you only buy the handle once and insert various wheels. Products Used: Lacy & Lovely stamp set (7), W 132025, $24.95; C 122887, $17.95 Butterfly Collection Jumbo Wheel, 130112, $8.50 Jumbo Stampin' Round Handle, 103661, $5.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11...

Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel

Image
This is the last card we made at the August wheel class. I saw a very similar card on someone's blog, but I fear I cannot remember where so that I can give proper credit. The Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel was used as a dual background here, since I rolled it across both the top of the Perfect Plum card and across the strip of Certainly Celery card stock. The flower uses two images from the Vintage Vogue stamp set cut out and layered with a brad and popped up with a double layer of dimensionals. A little sponging with Perfect Plum classic ink added the finishing touches to the project. Products Used: Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, 117693, $8.50 Vintage Vogue Stamp Set, Wood Mount 117690, 23.95; Clear Mount 118590, $17.95 Perfect Plum Card Stock (24 sheets, 8½" x 11"), 101889, $6.95 Certainly Celery Card Stock (24 sheets, 8½" x 11"), 105125, $6.95 Very Vanilla Card Stock, (40 sheets, 8½" x 11"), 101650, $8.50 Perfect Plum Classic Stampin' Pad, 101437, $5....

Baby Tees

Image
Another card from my class on using wheels to make cards. This one features the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel. I rolled it across Whisper White card stock using Early Espresso Classic ink and then colored parts of the tees with Wild Wasabi and So Saffron Stampin' Write Markers. I then rolled again to get one baby tee that I could cut out and add with Stampin' Dimensionals. This is similar to another card I had designed some time ago using this wheel. Products Used: Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel, 118621, $8.50 Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, 115370, $36.95 Wild Wasabi card stock, 108641, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Whisper White card stock, 100730, $8.50, 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack, Subtles Collection, 117152, $21.95 Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, 119670, $5.95 Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker, 120975, $3.50 So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker, 105114, $3.50 Eyelet Border Punch, 119853, $15.95 Stampin' Dimensionals (300), 104...

Baroque Borders

Image
When preparing for my August class on wheels, I wanted to show different ways to use them. For this card, we used Post-It notes to help us mitre the corners. Once the technique is grasped, the card is a very simple one. While designing, I couldn't resist the temptation to play around with the same wheel and colors to come up with a totally different look. I decided this one would take more time to make, so we made the previous card and I simply showed this one. In retrospect, this might have been easier simply because there was only one corner to mitre. Products Used: Baroque Border Standard Wheel, 109675, $6.50 Baroque Motifs Stamp Set, 113490, $27.95 Elizabeth Stamp, 117120, $9.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, 115370, $36.95 Very Vanilla Card Stock, 101650, $8.50, 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Bravo Burgundy Card Stock, 105123, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Bravo Burgundy Classic Stampin' Pad, 105214, $5.95 Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad, 105219, $5.95...

Musically Speaking...

Image
This is one of the cards we made at my August class on using Stampin' Up! wheels. We made two cards with the standard wheels and two cards with the jumbo wheels, using them as backgrounds, borders and focal points. This one features the Music Notes standard wheel and the Fabulous Florets stamp set. Of course, the "Happy Anniversary" is from my most frequently used stamp set: Teeny Tiny Wishes. This card did require some careful cutting. Glue dots worked well for adhering the stem with its leaves, but I popped up the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals. Products Used: Fabulous Florets stamp set, W 123025, $23.95; C 123027, $17.95 Music Notes Standard Wheel, 120327, $6.50 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, wood mount only, 115370, $36.95 Standard Handle (for the wheel), 102971, $3.95 Basic Black Standard Stampin'Around Inked Cartridge, 104581, $5.95 Basic Black card stock, 121045, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Real Red card stock, 102482, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½...

More Wheelies

Image
Here are three more cards made with Jumbo Wheels. I am selling the two discontinued ones for $4.25 (they would be $8.50 plus shipping and handling plus sales tax if purchased new). Although the wheels are discontinued, the other elements in these cards are currently available. [For some reason, I was thinking the third wheel was also dropped, but it is still available, so you'll have to place an order from the catalog if you want that one. I decided I would still showcase it here.] For this Whisper White card, I ran a slightly smaller piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot inside the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder and adhered it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. Real Red classic ink and card stock add vivid color. The Full Heart and Small Heart punches provided the shapes to go behind the cut-out stamped images (I [Heart} Heart stamp set). The Swirling Stars Jumbo Wheel could easily be used for any type of celebration. I chose to use it here as...

Converting Colors

Image
I'm still saying a fond farewell to many of the retiring colors. Why did I ever think I would be able to use up all that card stock? I had just inventoried and restocked my supplies when I received the announcement, so I guess I'm going to start selling off the what I have in paper, inks and markers. The card below was made in an effort to use up old rub-ons as well as card stock. I used to use Brilliant Blue often enough to warrant two ink pads and now I'm saying good-bye to it. The card below uses Green Galore, Brilliant Blue and Whisper White. There is no stamping on this card; the flowers are a rub-on. I kept looking at the colors in this card and admiring them. The next step was to look through my supplies of card stock that appear in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog to find a combination that will provide nearly the same effect. I settled on Certainly Celery and Pacific Point. I had also been playing with a design idea in my head which used the new Baby Tees ju...

Color Challenge

Image
When I saw the color challenge on Split Coast Stampers, I knew this stamp set would be perfect. In fact, I can't seem to get enough of this stamp set! The challenge was to use Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink and Dusty Durango. A neutral color was allowed. The centers of the Creamy Caramel flowers are punched out of Pretty in Pink card stock. I lightly sponged the Very Vanilla card stock with Creamy Caramel ink to give it an antique look. The stamps and the ribbon are from the Occasions Mini Catalog. To duplicate this card, you need the following items: Vintage Vogue stamp set, 117690, $23.95 for wood mount; 118598, $17.95 for clear mount Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, 117693, $8.50 Stampin' Around Jumbo Handle, 103661, $5.95 Pretty in Pink Card Stock, 100459, $5.50 for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Dusty Durango Card Stock, 115321, $5.50for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Creamy Caramel Card Stock, 102514, $5.50 for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Very Vanilla Card Stock,...

Swing Card

Image
This is the swing card I designed for a project for my demonstrator team to make at our monthly meeting. Above is how it looks when standing up. When folded to place in an envelope, it looks like this: When the recipient opens the card, the center section swings around so she can read the "inside": When I flatten the card so you can see the front without its folds, it looks like this: To make this card, you begin with a piece of 5-1/2"x6-3/4" Pretty in Pink cardstock (100459, $5.50 for 24 sheets). I decorated the top and bottom edges of both sides using Cupcakes wheel (113121, $6.50--a Stampin' Around Handle is needed, 102971, $3.95). Next, you'll make a 1-1/4" score line 2-3/4 inches from each side, at the top and the bottom of the card. From each score line, cut a slit 1-3/8" long. Then connect those slits with another slit (this cut on each side should be 3 inches long). The best way to do this is to use the Paper Cutter (104152, $24.95) wi...

Very Vintage

Image
I was playing around with my new Very Vintage jumbo wheel from the Occasions Mini Catalog (117693, $8.50) when I made this card. I then used the Vintage Label set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog (only available when you purchase $50 worth of product) for the Happy Birthday greeting. Chocolate Chip cardstock, ink and 1/4" grosgrain ribbon were used on the Bordering Blue card with Very Vanilla cardstock for the stamping and rolling. I dyed a flower from the Pretties Kit (109114, $29.95)) to match using the Bordering Blue ink pad. I actually laid the flower on the ink pad and rubbed it in with tweezers--not the proper way to dye them, but it worked. I added a flat pearl, also from the Pretties Kit, for the flower center. The Scallop Trim Border punch from the Sale-a-Bration catalog added a little fanciness to the Chocolate Chip cardstock behind the Very Vanilla. I think the design of this wheel is my favorite yet. I hope to play with it some more. Ideas are popping into my hea...
