His Grace Easter Card

Image
Amazing how different this card looks from the one I posted yesterday. I've used a lighter check (Gingham Gala), added some bling and popped up an oval cut from the design, all of which combine to give a very different feeling to this card from yesterday's. I actually stamped and colored the piece of Whisper White card stock and then cut out an oval using one of the Oval Layering Framelits. I attached the stamped frame first with some all purpose glue and the popped up the center of the image using Stampin' Dimensional.  It wasn't difficult to align the elements of the image. This is the inside of the card. Products Used: His Grace cling stamp set (7), 148676, $20.00 Highland Heather 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 146986, $8.50 Gorgeous Grape 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 146987, $8.50 Whisper White 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $9.75 Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad, 147103, $7.50 Gorgeous Grape Classic ...

His Grace

Image
I love the fact that Stampin' Up! included a meaningful faith-based stamp set in their occasions catalog. Somehow shades of purple just seem so appropriate with this set.  We made two different cards with this set at my March stamp class. I'll show the second one in tomorrow's post. This one is fairly simple. The most difficult part is probably the Buffalo Check on the background paper and that's only because I seem to struggle to cover the background stamp completely. Hence the most helpful and greatly appreciated Stamparatus! However, this stamp appeared in the Holiday catalog and I'm not sure if it will show up in the next annual catalog or not, but I've listed it below anyway. I have discovered that if I want to stamp an image with our classic stampin' pads, it's easy to blur the outlines if you use markers or blender pens. However, the Stampin' Blends work perfectly. So that's what I used to color the vine and flowers on this card. P...

Easter Daffodils

Image
"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here. Products used: You're Inspiring rubber stamp set (8), W 145805, $27.00; C 145808, $19.00 Daffodil Delight 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $8.00 Old Olive 8-1/2" x...

Daffodils for Easter

Image
Admittedly, I have a weakness for flowers and probably have way too many floral stamp sets. But I couldn't resist the "You're Inspiring" stamp set. And it's another of those versatile sets because of the various words included. I chose to make this one an Easter card. Plus I am enjoying coloring with our new Stampin' Blends. Products Used: You're Inspiring rubber stamp set (8), W 145805, $27.00; C 145808, $19.00 Daffodil Delight 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $8.00 Pumpkin Pie 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 105117, $8.00 Old Olive 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 100702, $8.00 Whisper White 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $9.00 Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, 132708, $6.00 Daffodil Delight Combo Pack Stampin' Blends, 144603, $9.00 Pumpkin Pie Combo Pack Stampin' Blends, 144599, $9.00 Old Olive Combo Pack Stampin' Blends, 144597, $9.00 5/8" Burlap Ribbon (5 yards), 141487, $7.00 Petal...

Remarkable You for Easter

Image
One of the lessons on using watercolor pencils was using colored cardstock. Since I didn't have the stamp set that was being used, I totally redesigned the card, making it an Easter card. I'm not sure if I like using the white pencil or not. I have used it to lighten my coloring, but this is the first I've used it on colored cardstock. I added a little Basic Gray for shading. I had some black grosgrain ribbon on hand that we no longer carry and added that to the card, but you could easily use a 5/8" strip of Basic Black cardstock. I never noticed that I had scanned this card crookedly, but you get the idea, I'm sure. The card base is Whisper White, although it's hard to tell that there is a frame of white around the Peekaboo Peach. Products Used: Remarkable You rubber stamp set (6), W 139891, $45; C 139894, $33 Crazy About You stamp set (33), W 138856, $52; C 138859, $39; P 137137, $25 Whisper White 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $9 Pe...

Easter Lamb

Image
This little lamb is so sweet! I actually took my craft and rubber scissors and cut the stamp apart so it would be easier to stamp the lamb and the Easter greeting separately. I've used some retired buttons on this card, but we have other buttons in our current catalog that would work just as well. I love that our Framelits Dies allow easy layering, as in the circles used here. And the new Banner Triple Punch makes dovetailing the ends of "banners" so easy!  What you probably can't see very well in my scanned copy of this card is the Wink of Stella I used in all the dots making up the lamb's woolly coat. I'm also in love with the new Archival Stampin' Pads in Basic Black and Gray! Can water color with them, the ink is vivid and yet it dries quickly. No need for any of the other black inks! Products Used:  Easter Lamb stamp (1), W 140740, $10.00 Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Clear, 141897, $8.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 10...

Easter Favors

Image
I so enjoy making favors for our Easter table.Today is the last day of Sale-a-Bration and therefore the last day to order the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, which contains the Calypso Coral ribbon I used on these favors. The window sheets I used here are leftover from a pack of Specialty Designer Paper that is now retired, but you can stamp on our clear window sheets with Staz-on ink, or leave them clear.  The one below is for the men in the family - two sons-in-law, one brother-in-law and two grandsons.  The favor for the ladies is the same as the one we made in my last stamp class. The triangular piece is simply a 4¼" x 5" piece of card stock (you can get four out of one sheet of card stock) scored at 1¼", 2½" and 3¾" from one 5" side to the other. Do any stamping you wish to do and then punch an opening and insert a window sheet. Run a strip of snail adhesive along inside of back fold and attach candy Kisses. After completing your triangle, add ri...

Irresistibly Easter

Image
I just love the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (Sale-a-Bration catalog)! Coupled with my favorite green, Pistachio Pudding, I created a perfect Easter card. I used the same design as a sympathy card. The colors just make me think "Spring"! And with snow falling on our snow-covered landscape, that thought is very inviting, to say the least. I haven't used the heavy baker's twine much, but now I'm learning how great it can be. And it's very economical! The Petite Petals flowers are attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. I've seen some of the other dimensionals and, I have to admit, ours are definitely the best. Those by other companies are too thick and too small. Plus we have a border on our sheet of dimensionals, which works nicely on those skinny pieces I want to raise up.  By the way, I used my brayer and ink pad to give color to this dsp. Products Used: Petite Petals stamp set (6), W 133152, $15.95; C 133155, $11.95 Delig...

Cutting Up and Punching Out

Image
As I said in my previous post, I love tulips and so I just had to have the Blessed Easter stamp! For this card, I really changed things up. I heat-embossed the tulips with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder and then colored them in with Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green Stampin' Write Markers before cutting them out. I then inserted them into an envelope made with my Envelope Punch board (the point of the flap was removed with the Small Scallop Stampin' Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade. I then stamped the word portion of the image again, this time with Island Indigo ink, and punched it out. A totally different effect than the stamp's original design. I think this is my favorite Easter card! But it's a toss-up. Products Used: Blessed Easter stamp (1), W 133212, $11.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Island Indigo 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122923 Watercolor Wonder 12" x 12" dbl-sided Designer Serie...

Blessed Easter Variations

Image
I love tulips! So when Stampin' Up! came out with the Blessed Easter stamp set, I just had to have it. And it will be very easy to use for any spring card just by not using the greeting portion of the stamp. All three cards below use Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper for the background. Plus I've used Stampin' Write Markers to color the rubber image before stamping on Whisper White card stock. For two of them I used the Ovals Collection of Framlit Dies. Products Used:  Blessed Easter stamp set (1), W 133212, $11.95 Daffodil Delight 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $6.95 Crisp Cantaloupe 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131298, $6.95 Gumball Green 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 126840, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Watercolor Wonder 12" x 12" dbl-sided Designer Series Paper (12), 132994, $10.95 Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker, 119677, $3.50 Island Indigo Stampin' W...

Sweet Sorbet for Easter

Image
The Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper available for one more week (Sale-A-Bration) is so cheerful, so spring-like. I think it's perfect for Easter—or any special occasion. And Basic Black is a great back drop for most of the prints in the pack. I paired this print with Crisp Cantaloupe and Basic Black. The only stamping is the greeting. The three pieces of twine are from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack, obviously designed to coordinate with the dsp. The pack includes 10 yards each Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit Twine as well as one sheet printed adhesive-backed cork (58 pieces). I punched the greeting with the Modern Label punch and then punched an identical shape from  Basic Black card stock. I then cut the black piece in half and attached them behind the greeting so they extend a little past the Whisper White. The card was made extra easy by using the Banners Framelits Dies. I have gotten to where I utilize my card stock to the utmost. For example, I cut...

Easter Baskets

Image
I found these cute Easter baskets that hold Hershey Kisses on another blog (qbeesquest.blogspot.com) and decided I just had to teach them to the attendees of my March stamp class! I made mine in Primrose Petals, Wild Wasabi and Marina Mist because they seem to be the closest colors to the pastel wrappers of the kisses. They're not really that difficult, either. And as I was putting mine together, I thought how easy it would be to make them into teacups for favors at a tea party. Just extend the tab and curl it around for a cup handle. Anyway, these require no stamping, although you could add an Easter greeting to the top of the basket. I did add a strip of coordinating ribbon to the center of each handle and fastened the ends with brads through the side of the basket. The only tricky part is properly folding the inserts that hold the candy kisses. The basket itself is made from a 2" x 9" strip of card stock folded in half and scored at 5/8", 1-3/4". 3-3/4...

Still Easter Thoughts

Image
I have been working on a special prayer journal for another leader in our local Community Bible Study.   Each member of the Leadership Council was given a specific person to journal for (no one knows who received her journal) and we were asked to "gift" this person with special things within it. So I have journaled thoughts and written prayers for her and any of her prayer requests. I've also inserted stamping things within its pages. Agreat place for me to use some of my retired products. Anyway, I left a page empty for an Easter project that I had in mind and just completed this morning. I love the way it turned out and just had to share. The Classic Stampin' pads I used were: So Saffron, More Mustard, Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke, Wonder Wisteria and Concord Crush. Since Concord Crush is my absolute favorite color, I was really sad that Stampin' Up! didn't bring that color back into its color collections. Other Products Used:  Stippled Blossoms st...

Easter Gifts

Image
Just had to share photos of the Easter baskets I made for my grandkids along with the toppers for the candy fillers. The bunny toppers are punch art, while the baskets are made using the oval framelits (see previous post). I merely folded Whisper White card stock cut with the Top Note Bigz Die and used the following punches to assemble the face: 1¼" circle punch, 119861, $15.95 ½" circle punch, 119869, $5.95 Large oval punch, 119855, $15.95 Extra-large oval punch, 119859, $16.95 Small heart punch (teeth and nose), 117193, $5.95 Although I planned to use a gel pen for the "light" on the eyes, I realized I forgot to order another when mine went dry, so I used a blender pen and Whisper White Craft Ink. I actually stapled the folded Top Note to the cellophane bag (102757, $4.50 for 50 bags, 4" x 6") and then covered the staple with the Whisper White upside down small heart, to which I'd added a light gray line to separate the teeth.

Easter Basket

Image
We made this basket at my Quick Easter Class Thursday evening. It is made from one sheet of card stock using the Ovals Collection of Framelits Dies. I just love it! I learned how to make this from Connie Stewart's blog. There is a box between the two scalloped ovals made with the scoring tool and sticky strip. Of course, there's no reason why this basket has to be exclusively for Easter. Fill it with dry or paper flowers for a May Day or Mother's Day basket or simply a summer decoration. Products Used: Certainly Celery 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 105125, $6.95 Twitterpated 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Pink Pirouette/Rose Red Two-Tone Ribbon (5 yards), 129294, $6.95 Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Sale-a-Bration, free with $50 purchase Sticky Strip (10 yards), 104294, $6.95 Simply Scored Scoring Tool, 122334, $29.95

More Easter Wisteria

Image
A super simple card, still using Wisteria Wonder card stock and Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper. The doily is part of the dsp package, two sheets of laser-cut double-sided doilies. I merely cut the doilies apart and use on my card. This one uses one of the designs from the package plus a doily fastened with a Wisteria Wonder Designer Printed Brad. A little bow from Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine below the stamped Easter Dove finishes off the card. I sent this card to my niece with the same Bible verses of comfort I used in my nephews' cards and omitted the "Happy Easter" greeting from all of theirs since this holiday falls so close to the loss of their mother. Products Used: Easter Dove stamp, 125455, $6.95 Wisteria Wonder 8½" x 11" card stock, 122926 $6.95 Flirtatious 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), 122360, $12.95 Concord Crush Classic Stampin' Pad, 119785, $5.95 Designer Printed Brads, 122940, $7.95 Wisteria Wonder ...

Easter Dove

Image
He is risen! Easter! Wonder Wisteria and Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper team up to make this card. I love this paper but have not used it anywhere near enough. And now there are only two months left to purchase it. The Easter Dove Stamp is only available through the Occasions Mini Catalog through April 30th. For this card, I colored the stamp with the Melon Mambo, Wonder Wisteria and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers. Products Used: Easter Dove stamp (1), 125455, $6.95 Delightful Dozen stamp set (12), W 126650, $32.95; C 122652, $24.95 Flirtatious 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), 122360, $12.95 Wonder Wisteria 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122922, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 2011-13 In Color Assortment of Stampin' Write Markers, 123002, $14.95 Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker, 121074, $3.50 Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker, 120975, $3.50 Wonder Wisteria Classic Stampin' Pad, 1...

Easter Cards Without all the Flowers!

Image
My two nephews and a niece lost their mother (my sister) last week. I want to encourage them with a few verses and cards for their first holiday without their mom. I decided I needed to make cards for the boys that were not excessively flowery but could still be Eastery. Surprisingly, I chose the Just Add Cake designer series paper and really like the result. Both cards have a Whisper White base. The card below includes retired designer ribbon that I had laying around. I think it added just the right touch. Inside the cards, I want to include a couple Bible verses that will remind them that they have the hope of seeing their Mom again in eternity: "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man" (1 Corinthians 15:20-21, NIV). "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth in...

Easter Happiness Shared

Image
This is one of my favorite stamps—I have a lot of them! But I thought this would be perfect for an Easter card. Of course, you could always use a birthday greeting instead or leave it blank for a note card. We made this card at one of my workshops and the ladies loved it. Products Used: Happiness Shared stamp set, W 117038, $16.95; C 120534, $12.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, W115370, $36.95 Certainly Celery card stock, 105125, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Pretty in Pink card stock, 100459, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Rose Red card stock, 102544, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Whisper White card stock, 100730, $8.50 for 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad, 115657, $5.95 Pretty in Pink Classic Stampin' Pad, 101301, $5.95 Certainly Celery Classic Stampin' Pad, 105217, $5.95 Rose Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 101778, $5.95 Blender Pens, 102845, $9.95 for 3 Certainly Celery 5/8" Satin Ribbon, 117288, $8.95, 15 ...
