Sweet Storybook 3-D Card

Image
My young granddaughters have decided they want me to make dimensional cards for them. It has been a bit of a challenge and I wish I had photographed the first one I made for Kyah's October birthday. Because my January class attendance was low, I decided we could take the extra time to make the same card I made for Karis' January birthday.  This time, I made mine into a baby card and will take a gift along with the card to a woman who just had her baby.  This card actually came together quite easily. I think it's my favorite card yet! The Stamparatus was such an incredible help for this card, especially when we made it in class. I centered the mushroom from the Sweet Storybook stamp set on a piece of Whisper White card stock, added Poppy Parade to the mushroom cap and colored the underside of the cap and the stem with my Soft Suede Blends. That was mounted on a piece of Poppy Parade card stock which in turn was adhered to the Mint Macaron card front. After stamping the m...

Everyone Loves a Butterfly

Image
The third card made by the girls at my class last week featured a butterfly. [Actually, it was the second one we made, but it is the third to be posted.] I cut the banners and the butterflies, both layers, ahead of time using my Big Shot. All the girls had to do was put the card together and stamp the greetings. When my granddaughter spotted the floral stamp in the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, she wanted to stamp them inside, which mean they all had to do so. Such creativity. Once again I was using retired products. I still love the Blackberry Bliss former In Color.

It's a Minion!

Another fun design for my little girls' stamping class is this one that required not stamping, although I gave them the option. Two girls used a thank you greeting from the retired Delightful Dozen stamp set while several others made their cards into Father's Day cards, stamping the greetings on the blue overalls. I cut everything out ahead of time so all they had to do was follow directions to glue the pieces on the card front. We used up my Basic Black and Basic Gray candy dots for buttons on the overalls. Such fun!

Stamping With Little Girls

Image
Last week I had a group of little girls come to my house to make some cards. I developed three different cards. The little girls lost interest after two cards, but the older ones made three with no problem and one actually wanted to make more. So my challenge was to make fairly simple yet nice cards. Admittedly, the prep for this class was more time consuming than those classes I do for adults. The class was organized because one mom wanted her girls to make thank you cards. This  card was designed with that in mind. My thought was that the fireflies in the jar were thankful to be set free; hence the jar lid propped against the jar itself. Knowing that these were not prospective buyers, I used some of my retired products that have been laying around, like the Naturals White and Lost Lagoon card stocks. I even had some leftover Lost Lagoon ribbon, which I added in the form of a bow on the neck of the jar after scanning this card. The stamps are current (Jar of Love), although th...

Hey, Girl Stamp Set

Image
My granddaughter's fourth birthday led to the design of this card. She's such a little lady. Nearing the end of her celebration last night, she put on a princess nightgown, came downstairs and strolled across the room looking for all the world like she'd been trained to walk like a model. At one point, she crawled on my lap and undid the scarf I was wearing because, she said, I was too warm in it. She then strutted around wearing the scarf before she transformed into a Star Wars character. My little lady disappeared. Anyway, I once again did a lot more "fussy cutting" than I had planned when I started this card. I new I was going to use the "Hey, Girl" stamp set and decided to use a piece of "Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper" (Sale-a-Bration Limted Time item) for my background. I heat embossed the little girl, making it easier to color her in (and to cut her out when my design turned that direction). I used my Blushing Bride and Calyp...

Sparkly Ballerina

Image
The card I made for my niece's birthday was a variation of the card shown below. I expect to give this to my granddaughter for her birthday tomorrow, although I wonder if the two girls will compare or notice the similarity. Hmm... With the assistance of my Big Shot, this is not a difficult card to make. I did not order the bundle, however, because I figured my Circles Collection Framelits would work and I couldn't see myself using the words since I don't do Halloween and I already have the Hello You Thinlits. However, this circle is in between sizes, so I ended up trimming the snow globe. Plus I "fussy cut" the base for the globe. So now I'm wondering if I should have ordered the Thinlits anyway. I do love the Sparkly Seasons stamp set! I have always had a special fondness for snow globes and have a small Christmas collection. And this set includes a pumpkin, a snowman and a nutcracker. Other stamps make it easy to convert your "globe" to an ...

Olaf Bounces on Card Front

Image
What is it about princesses that every little girl loves? Then bring on a movie like Frozen with all its imaginative characters, its icy fantasies and the beloved snowman, Olaf, who falls apart and puts himself back together again. What fun. So, for her third birthday, I just had to give my granddaughter, Karis, a card with Olaf adorning the front. although I gave that one away, I proceeded to make another for my January card class. Somewhat labor intensive, yet it was a labor of love.  And here's a picture of my sweet little granddaughter. Her card had a happy birthday banner in Olaf's "hand". Girl's Ballerina Card

When surfing through blogs or Pinterest, I spotted this ballerina with a skirt made of ribbon and decided to try it for myself. I had just received my Blendabilities (alcohol markers) from Stampin' Up!, which included a set of skin tones. Perfect! Party Invitation

Image
My daughter asked me to design an invitation to her daughter's birthday party. Kyah will be turning 4 in October and is having a bug party. Green grapes on skewers will be caterpillars. They're planning dirt pudding with gummy worms and bug juice and a lot of other fun things. I actually saw this card, or something similar, on Pinterest, but couldn't find it again when I went searching for it. I think it's a fun card and I'm sure Kyah will like it, too. Especially with the little googly eyes! Products Used: Stylin' Girl stamp set (4), W 130700, $18.95; C 130703, $14.95 Note Cards (5" x 3½") & Envelopes (20), 131527, $5.95 Polka Dot Parade 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 126902, $10.95 Marina Mist 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119682, $6.95 Daffodil Delight 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $6.95 Real Red 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 102482, $6.95 Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 126949, $5.95...
