Rejoice!

Simple elegance is how I would describe this card we made at my October stamp class. Easy to put together yet the use of gold made it sparkle. I fear the color didn't come through as well as I would have like it.  Believe it or not, the card and the background for the gold embossed words is Crumb Cake, even though it looks like gray.  I embossed the Berry Burst card stock using the Tin Tile Dybnamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then smeared Gold Shimmer Paint all over the surface using a sponge dauber, although it barely shows on this picture. The rest is self-explanatory. If you saw yesterday's post, you also saw a variation of this card. Before assembling this card, the gold foil leaves were cut from the piece that backed our greeting. Saves paper, which also saves money. And no one would ever know unless they take the card apart. I have a group of ladies from church who come to my house once a month to make birthday cards for church family. But this month, ...

More Black Ice

Image
I had so much fun playing around with this Black Ice technique (details on previous post)! I just wish you could see the gleam from the layer of clear embossing.  Knowing my grandson would be graduating from community college this spring, I decided to use this technique on his graduation card. He loves his music and is especially into his guitars, although he also plays the violin. The background is accomplished by once again drawing the edge of the Basic Black ink pad across a piece of Smoky Slate card stock. I added three silver stars (Metallic Enamel Shapes) to the focal piece of this card. Because the card base is black, I decided the liner needed a little coordination with the card itself. So I added black streaks (a little grunge) and stamped another guitar in the corner. Products Used: Epic Celebration stamp set (SAB, discontinued) Basic Black 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 121045, $8.00 Smoky Slate 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (24), 131202, $8.00...

Rose Wonder and Vellum

Image
This card was inspired by the technique spot on page 162 in the annual catalog. I stamped the verse from Isaiah inside the card because I designed it with a cancer patient in mind. It is another of the cards we made at my July class. We embossed the rose and greeting on the front of the vellum card stock and then colored it on the backside using Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers. It was so easy to line them up the way I wanted by placing both stamps on the same clear block (F). Because adhesives show through the vellum, I used the brads to attach it to Melon Mambo card stock. Sad to say, there are no brads in the current catalog, but you could use glue dots and cover them with enamel shapes. I tried using a method I had seen on-line where you sponge glue on the back of your vellum card stock and adhere it that way. Because it is all over, you don't see the adhesive. However, it smeared the ink on the back. As I write this, I'm thinking I should have seen ...
