Hey, Girl Stamp Set

My granddaughter's fourth birthday led to the design of this card. She's such a little lady. Nearing the end of her celebration last night, she put on a princess nightgown, came downstairs and strolled across the room looking for all the world like she'd been trained to walk like a model. At one point, she crawled on my lap and undid the scarf I was wearing because, she said, I was too warm in it. She then strutted around wearing the scarf before she transformed into a Star Wars character. My little lady disappeared.

Anyway, I once again did a lot more "fussy cutting" than I had planned when I started this card. I new I was going to use the "Hey, Girl" stamp set and decided to use a piece of "Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper" (Sale-a-Bration Limted Time item) for my background. I heat embossed the little girl, making it easier to color her in (and to cut her out when my design turned that direction). I used my Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers for her dress. I wanted to color her skin a little, so I used a Blender Pen and very little Blushing Bride ink to make it different from the top of her dress. Crushed Curry was the closest color to Karis' hair that I had. Marina Mist added the pop of a different color for the third balloon. And if you look closely, you'll see a touch of Soft Sky blue in her eyes.

Because the little girl and the balloons were popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, I decided to use some of my Calypso Coral Baker's Twine (no longer available in that color, but you could use the Whisper White or Basic Black instead) for the strings attached to the balloons rather than stamping the strings

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
