Sweet Shop

Image
I ordered the Sweet Shop Designer Stickers from the Occasions Mini Catalog and then let them sit, unsure of how I was going to use them. I actually toyed with giving them to my granddaughter, but realized the stickers are too nice for a two-year-old. So I decided to design a card using one of them. Tis birthday card is the result. My Brother's Birthday

Image
My brother is travelling home to Indiana after a long weekend visit here in Canandaigua. Enjoyed our visit so much! Lots of reminiscing, lots of sharing, lots of discussions about the Bible, lots of shared concerns for our sister who is dying of cancer. He is very disciplined as he fights for his health after an extended stay in the hospital due to bleeding varicese in his esophagus. Would love to have him move closer, especially since our other sister also lives in Canandaigua, but it's hard to move away from the doctors who know his case so well. Anyway, we got to celebrate his birthday this weekend. The the birthday card I made him is in honor of our Scottish heritage (our Grandpa Wallace came over from Scotland as a young adult). I remember seeing a card similar to this on someone's blog back at Christmas time. I have to admit that I purchased this stamp set (Nature's Pace) simply because of the Scottish thistle, although the staff of music for my musical side and the g

Hooray for Me!

Recently my upline, Aly Schilling, sent me this adorable card. I had missed the August team meeting where I was recognized for being third in sales for our team. Apparently it had gotten buried amongst other things and she sent it to me when she came across it again. With the advent of facebook and e-mail, I fear snail mail seldom contains "fun" items, so I'm glad Aly sent it to me. I really like this card. Aly always manages to use color combinations I would never think of and manages unique designs. Two of the stamp sets she used for this card are Creative Elements (page 137 of the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog) and Posy Punch, a hostess set from the same catalog. I believe the colors are Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Pacific Point. The use of the Lace Ribbon Border punch, the seam binding ribbon and the Antique Brad add character to the card. Kudos to Aly - and to me for placing third in sales! I fear I've let my business slide of late wit

Wrap it Up

Although I took these pictures almost a week ago, I'm just now getting around to uploading them. In my previous post, I showed photos of the cards that were part of this baby shower gift. I wanted the packaging to coordinate with the thank you cards I made the new mom and the coordinating card from me to her. Pool Party card stock and Sale-a-Bration designer series paper, a stamped image and Sale-a-Bration ribbon decorate the gift bag. More Pool Party card stock with a strip of leftover Everyday Enchantment designer series paper are fastened with brads to the top of a 6" x 8" Cellophane Bag (102210, $4.95 for 50).

Bear Hugs

Only 17 days left of Sale-a-Bration and I'm still using as much of my free products as I can during this final month. I did use the Bear Hugs stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog for this set, however. My task was to make thank you notes to include in a baby shower gift. The different card is the card from me to the new Mom. I chose one of the papers from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper pack for the background on these cards. The ribbon comes from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack. I colored the rattle, bib, booties and diaper cover with markers but used my blender pens for the bear himself because it gave me the shade I wanted—the Soft Suede and Crumb Cake markers were just too dark. For the card from me, I used some of the scraps of dsp on a piece of Soft Suede card stock. I also stamped the bear in Jet Black StazOn Ink on Soft Suede and Pool Party card stock and used my paper snips to cut out all pieces. Finally, I used one of the brads from th

I am determined to use as many of my Sale-a-Bration product as possible during this month of March, the last month for free products just for ordering $50 worth of supplies. I used the same card stock and designer series paper as I did in my previous post but came up with a totally different card. This card was scanned while the other card was photographed. I have yet to decide which I prefer. The Fresh Vintage stamp set coordinates so perfectly with this dsp, so I wanted to work it into my design. The butterflies were a late addition because I kept looking at the card thinking it lacked something. The miniature butterflies were cut with the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die. What you can't really see on this card is the dots of Dazzling Details I added to the centers of the flowers. Products Used: Fresh Vintage Stamp Set, W 125115; C 125117, Sale-a-Bration item Everyday Enchantment 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), Sale-a-Bration item Everyday Enchan

Enchanted with Butterflies

Only three more weeks of Sale-a-Bration and I decided I must share some things made with supplies from that catalog. Plus I wanted to try out my new diagonal plate for the Simply Scored and make a coordinating envelope. And I'm always in need of birthday cards, so... Anyway, for this card I used the idea shown on page 6 of the Sale-a-Bration catalog. I used the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and an image from the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set. Remember, these items cannot be purchased—they are free, one stamp set or accessory for every $50 you spend. So if you spend $100, you can receive offerings from the catalog. This card uses three product packs: stamp set, designer series paper and ribbon and brad pack. Because our dsp is double-sided, the envelopes look like they've been lined without the extra work! How fun is that? If you look closely, you'll see that I used the ribbon and brads from the Sale-a-Bration catalog as well. And of course, everything had to be popp

I wasn't sure I liked this card when I designed it in preparation for the Watercolor Wonder Crayon class held a couple weeks ago, but the attendees loved it. I colored the stamp with the crayons, spritzed it with water, stamped it and then used crayons to color and watercolor the image.
