Playing with Colors

Image
While I had this stamp set and punch out, I just had to try a different color combination and I just love the result! After stamping and punching the center, I attached it to the flower and then attached the flower to the card. My last step was to cover the center with Crystal Effects and sprinkle with a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I love the cheerful effect of this color combination (Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz). Black-Eyed Susan

Image
With the black-eyed susans blooming in my yard, I decided I had to make one on a card. The designer series paper in the back ground is the retired Play Date pack and I fear the Chocolate Chip corduroy button in the middle is also discontinued. But everything else is still available. You could substitute one of the jumbo brads for the corduroy button. I like the texture of this button for a flower center, however. Musical Expressions

Image
As I looked at my display of discontinued stamp sets and designer papers and embellishments, I just had to make another card with the Music Expressions stamp set. For some reason, I had never used the brighter colors with it before, but I love the way it turned out. The card also features the Ice Cream Parlor designer series paper earned through the Sale-a-Bration catalog. I have several packs of this fun paper, as well as the ribbon and stickers that coordiante with it. The image is stamped with Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad on Very Vanilla card stock. I used my In Color Stampin' Write Markers to fill in parts of the image: Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Island Indigo. The cello is filled in with Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker. When I held the card up, I decided the bird looked too vivid, so I toned it down with Moonlight Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink, providing a luminous effect that you can't really see on the scanned image. I also used the smooch

Pennant Fun

Image
This card is more fun than pretty. I had used the Stripes Textured Embossing Folder on the front of folded Marina Mist card stock, but hadn't used it. Looking at it the other day, I decided it might go well with the Pennant Parade stamp set. This is what I came up with—bright and happy but not overly adorned. I've actually used three different stamp sets to make this card as well as three different colors of ink. I love being able to stamp an image and then punch it out with a coordinating punch! However, I did use my paper snips to cut around the "Happy Birthday" wish. Products Used: Pennant Parade Stamp Set, W 122740, $21.95; C 122742, $16.95 Four Frames Stamp Set, W 123440, $20.95; C 123442, $15.95 Perfectly Penned Stamp Set, W 122890, $16.95; C 122892, $12.95 Marina Mist Card Stock, 119682, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Whisper White Card Stock, 100730, $8.50, 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Daffodil Delight Card Stock, 119683, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x

More Delicate Doilies

Image
I wasn't sure I liked this card when I first made it. I was really struggling with adding another color that looked right with it. Even though I used the Marina Mist ink on the smaller doily stamp, the Marina Mist card stock just didn't look right when I tried layering it. I have to admit that I was stamping too late into the night and I was frustrated when I finally finished. But when I got up in the morning and looked at it lying on the table, I decided I really like the card. Other than the Marina Mist of the smaller doily, the card is done in just Whisper White and Not Quite Navy. I just love the effect of this new textured embossing folder, Stripes! Products Used: Delicate Doilies Stamp Set, W 122590, $21.95; C 122592, $16.95 Whisper White Card Stock, 100730, $8.50, 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Not Quite Navy Card Stock, 100867, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8½" x 11" Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin' Pad, 103008, $5.95 Marina Mist Classic Stampin' Pad, 119668, $5.95

I have been wanting to use the new Delicate Doilies stamp set, but seemed to be at a loss creatively. Tonight I sat down with two of my favorite colors (Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy) and set to work. I needed an anniversary card for my sister and her husband and didn't have anything in my stash of cards that seemed right. Notice how I stamped on the Whisper White card stock and then put it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I debated what to do for a focal point and then decided to pull out the Four Frames stamp set and incorporate my wish inside.Coordinating brads and seam binding ribbon embellished the card. Products Used: Delicate Doilies stamp set, W 122590, $21.95; C 122592, $16.95 Four Frames stamp set, W 123440, $20.95; C 123442, $15.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, W 115370, $36.95 Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 119976, $7.95 Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, 113439, $99.95 Whisper White card stock, 1

It's a Scottish Thistle

Image
When I spotted the new stamp set, Nature's Pace, in the new Idea Book & Catalog, I just had to have it! My Scottish heritage made me want the thistle image, used in the card below; my love of music drew me to the music staff; and I live in grape country so I had to have the cluster of grapes. I'm not so sure about the bee, but I love the floral wreath around it. And bees seem to be popular in stamp art these days, so... Another item in the new catalog I was just dying to purchase is the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Set. Isn't the oval frame behind the thistle impressive? I had actually planned to incorporate the music staff below the image, but the size I chose for my card made that impossible. Next time! Products Used: Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Set, 123130, $8.95 Nature's Pace stamp set, W 122660, $24.95; C 122662, $17.95 Naturals Ivory card stock, 101849, $7.50, 40 sheets, 8½" x 11" Always Artichoke

Punch Bunch is another of the discontinued stamp sets I am offering in my Buy One Get One sale (purchase one at its original price and get the equivalent from the new catalog free, paying only the shipping and sales tax on the new items). The third card includes Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents from the Sale-a-Bration mini catalog, a full pack of which I am also offering for sale. Once again, all my Sale-a-Bration items are valued at $14.95, so you may choose any set from the new Idea Book & Catalog worth $14.95. Or, if you order more than one set of retired stamps, you may choose items of equal value from the new catalog. Remember, this special offer is only available for the month of July. Buy One, Get One

Image
With the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog full of so many great and desirable items, I find I need to make room for the new. As a demonstrator, I always accumulate more stamp sets than I can use, especially when I can no longer demonstrate with them. So this year I am offering a special deal on those sets I wish to sell: Purchase one retired stamp set from my inventory at full price (original) and receive any item of equal or greater value from the new Idea Book & Catalog. Because of the tax laws, however, you will have to pay tax and shipping on the new set, which I will add to the cost of the retired item. Some sets are used; some have never been used. This offer is good only through the month of July. In this post, I am featuring the Bliss stamp set, my favorite from the 2011 Sale-a-Bration mini catalog. You'll find three samples below plus a copy of the page from the mini catalog. Let me know if you're interested by commenting or e-mailing me directly. I am

With Sympathy

Image
It seems I'm always in need of sympathy cards, three needed just this week for members of our church family. I chose to use up some of my Greenhouse Gala designer paper from the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog for these two cards. Baja Breeze is the base in both cards. I was anxious to use the new Lace Ribbon Border punch when I started stamping. I then used my Big Shot to cut Beautiful Butterflies (Bigz Die). I even textured the Chocolate Chip card stock used for the smaller butterfly with Flower Garden Textured Embossing Folder. I then wrapped the butterfly with White Baker's Twine to give a body and antennae. The butterflies in this card are cut from Pumpkin Pie card stock with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die. Butterflies seem to be so appropriate for sympathy cards, especially if we believe in the resurrection and the glorified bodies we will receive. "We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For

Cherish Friendship

Image
I fell in love with this set when I first saw the catalog previews, but when I received it, I just wasn't sure how I wanted to use it. This is the first card I made using the chair image. I uploaded the second card in my previous post. This one took more time as I chose to use my Aqua Painter and water color it. I have to admit, I thought I had grabbed Crumb Cake card stock for the card and later realized it was Sahara Sand, but it still looks good. I'm not going to list all the inks I used when water color the image. However, I stamped it with Staz-on Black ink on watercolor paper; the chair is Crumb Cake while the basket is Soft Suede. The contrasting color framing the focal piece is Poppy Parade. I looped the Victoria Crochet Trim and fastened it with a button and linen thread, then added mini glue dots to adhere the ribbon where I wanted it.
