Card Swap

I started off making a card for my neighbor who is a new grandmother, then decided I like the verse from "God's Blessings" for a new baby, that I would add a note to our granddaughter based on that verse and give it to her for her book. But I'm still making one for my neighbor, too. In addition, I decided the card colors and design are unusual enough that I would use it for my card fronts to swap with other demonstrators at the regional convention in Syracuse. There will be some variations since I don't have enough white grommets (Designer Hardward, 114348, $6.95)--I'll use jumbo brads or jumbo Designer Brads (page 179 in the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog).

To reproduce this card you would use cardstock in Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, and Sahara Sand and classic inks in Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay ink. I embellished the card with Bermuda Bay polka-dot grosgrain ribbon and Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon as well as the grommet. Stampin' Dimensionals and dry embossing (Perfect Polka Dots Stampin' Up! Textured Impressions Folder, 117335, $7.95) as well as the scalloped edge (Scallop Edge punch, 112091, $15.95) add more texture to the card.

Now I have 29 card fronts that were intended for the card swap, but the Regional convention was canceled due to the only snow storm we've had this winter! I arrived in Syracuse (actually, my daughter's home in Camillus) before the roads became treacherous. I understand the Stampin' Up people were unable to get into any airports near Syracuse. But my son-in-law and grandsons had fun building an igloo Thursday. The boys and their friends added snowmen and another snow fort on Friday. But it was so warm and sunny later in the day that the snowman started tilting and so the boys demolished him as they had done the other snowman.

When I came home last evening, I was pleasantly surprised to see that our neighbor had cleaned out our driveway for us. Bob had been out of town most of the week, so it was a relief to him, too, when he arrived about an hour after I did. Of course, there were two or three more inches this morning for Bob to blow out of our driveway... I think there were 10 or 12 inches that piled up in Canandaigua, which is why we were so thankful for our neighbor!
