Botanical Blooms

Image
I just love the Botanical Gardens Bundle! The purchase of the whole bundle, which includes 12 sheets of dsp, dies and stamps, allows the order of one item from the Sale-a-Bration catalog for free. And there are so very many possibilities for this stamp set. And the accompanying dies enable you to make three-dimensional flowers. Plus the leafy die cuts a unique border. I stamped and die-cut all but one flower for this card (I used only die-cut papers on another card). I had so much fun playing around with this set. I'm sure you'll see more cards in the near future. Products Used:  Botanical Blooms stamp set (17 photopolymer stamps), 140757, $17.00 Botanical Gardens 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 140583, $11.00 Botanical Builder Framelits Dies (14), 140625, $33.00       Bundle the above three items and save: 140819, $51.75 Birthday Blossoms stamp set (8), W 139167, $27; C 139471, $19.00 Old Olive 8½"x 11" cardstock (24), 100702, $7.00 Whisp

World Traveler Birthday

Image
You may tire of seeing all the cards made with this Limited Time Sale-a-Bration stamp set, but it just shows how much variety can be achieved with one simple set. This car was a little more complicated than most, which is why I chose not to make it at my stamp class this week. I used my brayer to roll Marina Mist ink on the labeled side of the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. What was difficult was keeping the ink off the large land mass of Europe and Asia. I thought I had cleaned off the excess, but some still showed up; hence the size and location of my birthday banner. I fussy cut the airplane and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I then added a little Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (didn't show up when I scanned it) to the top edges of the plane as though the sun were reflecting off it. The addition of sequins (left over from the Cottage Greetings Card Kit) filled in some of the empty space next to the greeting and added that bit of extra bling

The Sky is the Limit

"The Sky is the Limit"—what a perfect saying to go with an airplane! And how appropriate for a graduation. Or a retirement. Even a birthday! I'm planning to give this to my grandson when he graduates from high school in June.  This card was super easy to make. Since it is Basic Black, I included a Whisper White liner inside the card. I thought the "Perfectly Artistic" designer series paper was perfect for the background. Both the stamp set and the dsp are only available from the Sale-a-Bration catalog through February 15, so hurry if you're considering either or both. You will receive one SAB item for every $50 you spend from the core and/or the occasions catalogs. I fear I want almost every stamp set and bundle in the current Occasions Catalog—and have managed to purchase way too many already, as evidenced by all the Sale-a-Bration items I have accumulated. Since my husband is a corporate pilot and has always loved airplanes, I just had to have this set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. Cups & Kettle Valentine

Image
I love mixing things up! This card uses the Cups & Kettle Framelits, the Bloomin' Love stamp set and one framelit from the Large Numbers set. It was a sheet in the Have a Cuppa dsp stack that inspired me to make it into a Valentine card. A quick and easy card. This cup is cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock, but I also made this card with a Melon Mambo teacup. Products Used: Bloomin' Love stamp set (16 photopolymer stamps), 140643, $17 Melon Mambo 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 115320, $7.00 Bermuda Bay 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131197, $7.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Basic Gray 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 121044, $7.00 Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad, 140931, $7.00 Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin'Pad, 131171, $6.50 Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad, 126948, $6.50 Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies (12), 140624, $29.00 Large Numbers Framelits Dies (11), 140622, $31.00

Hey, Girl Stamp Set

Image
My granddaughter's fourth birthday led to the design of this card. She's such a little lady. Nearing the end of her celebration last night, she put on a princess nightgown, came downstairs and strolled across the room looking for all the world like she'd been trained to walk like a model. At one point, she crawled on my lap and undid the scarf I was wearing because, she said, I was too warm in it. She then strutted around wearing the scarf before she transformed into a Star Wars character. My little lady disappeared. Anyway, I once again did a lot more "fussy cutting" than I had planned when I started this card. I new I was going to use the "Hey, Girl" stamp set and decided to use a piece of "Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper" (Sale-a-Bration Limted Time item) for my background. I heat embossed the little girl, making it easier to color her in (and to cut her out when my design turned that direction). I used my Blushing Bride and Calyp

Birthday Flight

I don't know why the last couple cards I've made have found me doing a lot of fussy cutting, but the results are fun. This card is for my son-in-law. Simple colors. The only complicated part of this card was cutting out the airplane! I added Dazzling Details to the clouds for a little sparkle. I have a few ideas for future cards with this set, which is a Sale-a-Bration stamp set available only for a short time. The Birthday Wishes stamp set is discontinued (Four You). More Fun with the Nice Cuppa Bundle

Image
I love Melon Mambo and often pair it with Daffodil Delight. However, the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack mixes it with Crushed Curry, so that was my color choice for this card. Note: I layered a strip of Melon Mambo cardstock behind the cut-out scallop lines in the cup to help tie the colors together. I somehow ended up with two spools of Crushed Curry Cotton Ribbon, no longer available, so you're liable to see me using that whenever I can. Products Used: A Nice Cuppa stamp set (11 photopolymer stamps), 140683, $17.00 Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies (12), 140624, $29.00 Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack (48 double-sided 6"x6" sheets), 140567, $8.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Crushed Curry 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131199, $7.00 Melon Mambo 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 115320, $7.00 Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad, 125948, $6.50

There's Always Time for Tea!

Image
We used to make a lot of 6" x 3" cards and I think this particular stamp truly lends itself to that size card. I still have some of our nice envelopes left that fit this size, but we can also make the envelopes with our Envelope Punch Board. Since people who know me always associate me with tea, so this stamp set is perfect! So far, I've been using the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack in all my designs (partly because I always seem to end up with leftover dsp when it's discontinued), but that isn't absolutely necessary. And I've taken to using Baker's Twine for the little teabag tags. I have quite an accumulation of the twine in both current and retired colors. The Bermuda Bay is still available. The narrow ribbon, however, is retired. I have to admit that I "fussy cut" out the stack of teacups. To get inside the handles, I punched a small hole to insert my paper snips without risk of tearing or bending the element. Products Used:

Teapot Card Revisited

Image
If you saw my previous post, you will notice some changes in this card, although very similar. Admittedly, the card should probably have been turned the opposite direction, but I had cut the designer paper the wrong direction to do that. I could have lined the heart-shaped steam with the teapot's spout if I'd turned the card. However, I really like the changes I made to this card (my scanner always cuts off the upper edge, but the card ends up crooked if I try to move it down). I think this card, with its saying "you are Tea-riffic" could be used as a birthday card or a Valentine, depending on what you put inside. Of course, it could also be a thank you or just a simple note card.
