Using Those Scraps!

Image
By the time I finished making up the extra card kits from my class, I had lots of scraps from the patchwork card (see earlier post). Here are my endeavors to be creative with the extra lattice pieces. Twitterpated designer series paper, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Regals Collection Paper Stack, and the Flower Trim (seasonal mini catalog) are all exiting our catalogs on Monday. I hope you like what I came up with.

Tri-Fold Card in Retiring Colors

Image
I never liked the color River Rock, yet some of my favorite cards are made using that card stock. Somehow, when combined with deep contrasting colors, it looks really sharp. For this card, I combined River Rock with Bravo Burgundy and some Very Vanilla. I colored the image with my blender pen, adding Always Artichoke for the leaves. Otherwise, the only ink used is the Bravo Burgundy. The card is really very simple to make. You simply score your 5½" x 8½" card stock at 2-1/8" and 4¼" and fan fold. The piece of Bravo Burgundy is 2-1/8" x 5½".  When you open the card, you see the entire design. I fear we don't carry anniversary verses, so I purchased this one at one of the "unmentionable" craft stores a number of years ago and use it over and over. I do wish I had another anniversary verse to use since I've used this so much, but I do like what it says. The lovely Very Vanilla satin ribbon was discontinued a year ago, but you could sub

Razzle Mosaics

I've just begun playing with my new products, so my ideas aren't very creative yet. This card uses items from the new Quatre Fancy suite (available beginning June 1) and Rich Razzleberry classic ink. And lots of Stampin' Dimensionals! The two stamp sets and their coordinating punches are also available as bundles at a 15% discount. Products Used: Label Love stamp set (7), W 130619, $24.95; C 130622, $17.95 Label Love Bundle (stamps and punch), W 132723, $34.75; C 132722, $28.75 Artisan Label punch, 130920, $15.95 Mosaic Madness stamp set (11), W 130246, $26.95; C 130249, $18.95 Mosaic Madness bundle (stamps and punch), W 132734, $36.50; C 132733, $29.50 Mosaic punch, 131267, $15.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad, 126950, $5.95 Rich Razzleberry 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, discontinued Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, 129984, $7.95 Stampin' Dimensionals (300), 104430, $3.95

Variations of the Same Style

Image
The two cards I'm sharing today are the same basic style, yet they look very different because of the color changes, the different stamps and the varied direction. Notice that I am using up some of my Designer Series Paper Stacks as well as the retiring brads. You have only one week left to order the paper stacks, the brads, the First Edition designer series paper and Just Believe stamp set. I do wish I had the Perfect Plum 3/8" inch taffeta ribbon like the Certainly Celery on the first card, but I fear I don't own every ribbon available. By the way, although the brads are retiring from our catalog, you will have the equivalent in every color. They are called Candy Dots and are self adhesive. You can use them as dots or attach the to our new Candy Dots Brad bases, which will give them a silver rim. Products Used Just Believe stamp set (9-retiring), W 116948, $33.95; C 120453, $25.95 Betsy's Blossoms (6), W 126004, $28.95; C 126006, $21.95 Staz-On Jet Black

Mixing the Old and the New

Image
I recently missed a good friend's birthday, as I seem to do so often. Anyway, she's also a good customer, so I added a belated verse to the inside of this card, which used retiring colors (except for the Rose Red), a brand new stamp and its coordinating embossing folder. She loved it! She proceeded to order the Certainly Celery card stock, but it is no longer available because it is sold out. Pear Pizzazz is similar, but lacks the soft brightness of Certainly Celery, which I much prefer. The stamp is a large background-size stamp that I colored with Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Rose Red Stampin' Write Markers.  After transferring the image to my Whisper White card stock, I embossed it, lining up the images. I then stamped the hummingbird again, cut it out and popped it up with a Stampin' Dimensional. Products Used: Wildflower Meadow stamp (1), W 129165, $17.95; C 129168, $13.95 (available 6/1) Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder, 129376, $7.

Patchwork Quilt card

My May stamping class is in just two days. This is another card we will be making that uses retiring Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red and Twitterpated dsp. I love that designer series paper and hate to see it go, but it stayed around longer than most. Products Used: Four Frames stamp set (4), W 128589, $20.95; C 123442, $15.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (24), W 128748, $36.95' C 127802, $26.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Baja Breeze 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111352, $6.95 Riding Hood Red 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111348 Twitterpated 12" x 12" designer series paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Riding Hood Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 126968, $5.95 Decorative Label punch, 120907, $16.95 Lattice Bigz Die, 115958, $21.95

This is another of the cards we're making for my May class using a number of retiring items. The Designer Builder Brad in the center is in the soon-to-expire Spring mini catalog. The designer series paper is from the subtles paper stack, which stacks have been redesigned because of disappearing colors. Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze and Pretty in Pink are three colors that are discontinued beginning June 3. If you wish to stock up on any items being retired, you need to place your order while supplies last. I also used retiring square punches to design this card. Products Used: Perfectly Penned stamp set (4), C 122892, $12.95; W 122890, $16.95 Pretty in Pink 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 100459, $6.95 Early Espresso 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119686, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Subtles Collection 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper Stack (40), 117152, $21.95 Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, 126974,

Strips and Butterflies

Here is a quick card I put together as a result of looking at pieces of paper that needed to be picked up. I had seen something similar on Pinterest, yet this looks so different because of the paper. The card uses the soon to be discontinued Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and Riding Hood Red color. Products Used: Perfectly Penned stamp set (4), W 128703, $16.95; C 122892, $12.95 Whisper White 8½"x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Twitterpated 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Riding Hood Red 8½"x 11" card stock (24), 11348, $6.95 Riding Hood Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 126968, $5.95 Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon (10 yards), 109070, $6.95 Pearl Basic Jewels (150), 119247, $4.95 Beautiful Wings Embosslits, 118138, $11.95

Twitterpated Patches

Image
Twitterpated Designer Series Paper is going out with this 2012-2013 core catalog. I have always loved the paper and decided to do something different with it. I fear I haven't used my postage stamp punch in all the time I've had it, so this was a perfect opportunity. The ribbon retired when the In-Colors including Blushing Bride expired, although Blushing Bride is returning to our core colors this year. I like the fresh, cheerful look of this card. Products Used: Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (24), W 115370, $36.95; C 127802, $26.95 Blushing Bride 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131198, $6.95 (available June 1) Basic Gray 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121044, $6.95 Baja Breeze 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111352, $6.95 (available through June 1) Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Twitterpatted 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 (available through June 1) Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad, 12

Washi Tape Thank You

Image
I like this card using the Epic Day Washi Tape so much more than my other two attempts. Clean, simple, cheerful! The center got a little smooshed when I scanned it, but scanning is so much easier for me than photographing and uploading. Hope you like it, too. I used the debossed side of the Very Vanilla card stock so the honeycomb design would be more subtle since I only embossed the end of it. Products Used: Mixed Bunch stamp set (6), W 125535, $27.95; C 125537, $21.95 Delightful Dozen stamp set (12), W 122650, $32.95; C 122652, $24.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Calypso Coral 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122925, $6.95 Calypso Coral Classic Stampin' Pad, 126983, $5.95 First Edition 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper, (24), 121878, $12.95 Epic Day this and That Designer Washi Tape, 3 spools, 5 yards each, 131269, $4.95 Neutrals Brads (120), 119736, $6.95 Blossom Punch, 125603, $16.95 Boho Blossoms punch,

Assignment with Washi Tape

Image
Well, this has been an interesting challenge for me. I've been asked to design the "make and take" for our demonstrator team meeting, but I must use the washi tape from the Epic Day This and That promotion (those products are continued in the new 2013-14 catalog). They are neither a design nor a color combination I would choose to work with, which is why the design has been such a challenge for me. Anyway, this what I came up with. Actually, this is the second card I designed. I wasn't satisfied with the first one, but I did add another image to the front and like it better. I haven't decided if I will post it or not. The washi tape is the three strips across the bottom section of the Calypso Coral card stock. After I adhered that strip to the front of the card I decided the linen thread would have looked better between the Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral strips. Washi tape is adhesive tape with designs. It is also removable so you can reposition it. I love th

Floral District Tri-Shutter Card

Image
This is my first attempt at a tri-shutter card, a design I plan to teach at my next class, although it means a lot of cutting! I used the Floral District Designer Series Paper, the Delightful Dozen stamp set and Labels Collection of framelit dies. I also used the retired On Your Birthday stamp set for the greeting inside. I might tweak the measurements somewhat so the top and bottom are the same size, making it easier to cut multiple pieces for a class. But I do love the way it turned out. The first picture shows how the card looks when it comes out of the envelope. The second photo shows the card standing up. This last photo shows the open card.
