Build a Daisy

This card was going to be a birthday card for my sister-in-law, but I just can't part with it at the moment! I love the way it turned out, although the photo doesn't do it justice. I tried scanning it, which I think shows more detail, but I couldn't get it to lay straight in the scanner.

When I came up with this idea, I hadn't realized just how large the daisy would be, but it fits perfectly on the lattice I cut with the Big Shot Lattice die, which gives it a leafy look. There are 20 flower petals which were embossed in white on Whisper White card stock. I stamped the center with Daffodil Delight on the same color card stock, then covered it with Crystal Effects and adding a generous sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Although the designer paper is Pear Pizzazz, the bow is made with Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, which is a shade lighter than the Pear Pizzazz. You can hardly tell the difference in color. I love the elgant simplicity of this bow. You merely make a loop with a piece of your ribbon. I fasten it in the middle after overlapping and fastening the ends. Glue dots hold it very well. Then I wrap a small piece of ribbon around that loop, beginning and ending on the back. Finally, I made the v-shaped slashes in the ends of another piece of ribbon, attached that to the card and then adhered the bow with another glue dot.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. Thinking of You With All My Heart

I have so many odds and ends of designer series paper that I decided it's time to try to use some of it up. My problem is that I order more than I can use because Stampin' Up! comes up with such pretty stuff! Anyway, this was specialty paper from last year's Occasions Mini Catalog. You probably can't see, but this paper has lots of sparkle on it, so I decided I needed to add a glimmer brad to the center of my stamped image. This card is also one of my large cards made to be passed around for many to sign. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it for use, should the occasion arise, in my core group, Community Bible Study, or if I'll take it to church for our Adult Bible Fellowship aka adult Sunday School. Happiness Shared

I find I have bits and pieces of card stock from various workshops and occasionally sit down with the intention of using up those pieces as creatively as possible; in other words, I try to use them differently from their original intent. Last night was one of those times and I love the result. Shortly after the new catalog came out, I knew I just had to have the "Happiness Shared" stamp set. Every time I look at it, I think how much I like it but I just hadn't gotten around to using it yet. The card itself is Whisper White, which I softened by sponging lightly with Soft Suede classic ink. After stamping the image with Soft Suede classic ink, I used a blender pen and Marina Mist classic ink to add soft color to the flower as well as a little more Soft Suede to the stem and leaves.
