Swirly Valentine

Image
Christmas is just past, New Years Day is tomorrow, but I'm already thinking Valentines Day! While my new recruit, Kyla, was visiting, we made some cards. This is one of the valentines I made using, of course, the Big Shot and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Grab a punch, add some rhinestones and some ribbon, along with the usual dimensionals and I have a very simple but pretty Valentines Day card. I made the textured dots pop on the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits die by lightly rubbing my ink pad across the surface. Products Used: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, 113439, $99.95 Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 119277, $7.95 Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die, 117332, $11.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, 115370, $36.95 (wood mount only) Whisper White card stock, 100730, $8.50, 40 sheets 8-1/2 x 11 Melon Mambo card stock, 115320, $6.95, 24 sheets 8-1/2 x 11 Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad, 115656, $5.95 Modern Label Extra-Large punch, 119849, $16.95 Basi

Vintage Cardinal

Image
When I first sat down with the elements of this card, I thought I was going to make a birthday card, but discovered I needed one more Christmas card. To make it look vintage, I crumpled both the Real Red card stock and the designer series paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog, which expires January 3, 2011. I also played with the Distressing Essentials kit on the Real Red Card Stock. Products Used: A Cardinal Christmas stamp set, 111760, wood mount only, $23.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, 115370, wood mount only, $36.95 Crumb Cake Card Stock, 120953, $6.95, 24 sheets 8-1/2" x 11" Real Red Card Stock, 102482, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11" Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, 120810, $9.95, 12 sheets 12"x 12" (Holiday Mini Catalog) Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, 119670, $5.95 Deck the Halls Big Designer Buttons, 121002, $8.95 (Holiday Mini Catalog) Always Artichoke 1/2" Seam Binding, 121000, $6.95, 10 yards Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

Happiness Shared

Image
I find I have bits and pieces of card stock from various workshops and occasionally sit down with the intention of using up those pieces as creatively as possible; in other words, I try to use them differently from their original intent. Last night was one of those times and I love the result. Shortly after the new catalog came out, I knew I just had to have the "Happiness Shared" stamp set. Every time I look at it, I think how much I like it but I just hadn't gotten around to using it yet. The card itself is Whisper White, which I softened by sponging lightly with Soft Suede classic ink. After stamping the image with Soft Suede classic ink, I used a blender pen and Marina Mist classic ink to add soft color to the flower as well as a little more Soft Suede to the stem and leaves. After punching a scrap of Marina Mist card stock with the Curly Label punch, I added a couple leaves (notice, I also scattered the leaves on the background of the card itself) and sponged that, t

Digital Birthday Greeting

Image
My son's birthday is today and he thinks cards are a waste of time and money, so I send him digital cards. This is the one I sent him this year, created with My Digital Studio. So many digital possibilities! Do you recognize past designer paper? How about the Modern Label punch? And, of course, the grosgrain ribbon. The stamp sets featured here are no longer in the catalog (Big Bold Birthday and Best Birthday Wishes) but can are part of the digital package forever, as is the birthday designer paper. As I'm looking at this, I'm wishing I had added brads to the modern label and maybe even a shadow to make it look like it had dimensionals beneath it. I need to practice making more digital cards and using it for scrapbooks and calendars.

A Merry Vintage Christmas

Image
In the past month of inactivity, I could have been posting all these great Christmas cards I made at our Oktoberfest for Stampin' Up! demonstrators on the Heartfelt Stampers Team! This is one of my favorites. It's probably too late to post very many of them now. And, in all honesty, I struggle to use the Santa Claus cards because I prefer a Christian message. Anyway, this card uses Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper and the Bells & Boughs stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog, which is good until January 3, 2011. You probably can't see it in this scanned copy of the card, but there is glitter in the centers of each of the pointsettias. The row of vanilla brads is a nice touch, I think. I have come to love the vintage look we can achieve on our cards. Products needed for this card: Bells & Boughs stamp set, W 120831, $19.95; C121142, $14.95 * Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, 120810, $9.95 Always Artichoke card stock, 105119, $6.95 for 24 sheets 8-1/2"

Dasher

Image
Stampin' Up! now offers individual stamps—ideal for simple cards. This card uses the Dasher stamp with Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla card stock and matted on Soft Suede card stock. A hole punched in the side of the layers is perfect for a little knot of narrow Real Red taffeta ribbon. To decorate the top of the card, I tore scrap paper to use as a mask before stamping randomly with the filigree stamp from the Elements of Style stamp set. Before removing the mask, sponge with more Real Red ink over the design. The "Merry Christmas" greeting is from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set. As usual, Stampin' Dimensionals make the focal point (Dasher) pop. Products Needed: Dasher, 116816, $8.95 Elements of Style stamp set, W 118611, $27.95; C 120045, $19.95 * A Cardinal Christmas stamp set, 111760, $23.95 Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, 119251, $5.95 for 10 yards Very Vanilla Card Stock, 101650, $8.50 for 40 sheets 8-1/2" x 11" Soft Suede Card Stock, 115318, $6.95

Not just for Christmas

With bits and pieces of Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper left over, I decided to make some birthday cards for all the December birthdays in my life. Products used: Crazy for Cupcakes, 111618, $23.95 (wood mount only) Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper, 117159 $9.95, 12 double-sided 12"x 12" sheets Cherry Cobbler Card Stock, 119685, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11" Old Olive Card Stock, 100702, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11" Very Vanilla Card Stock, 101650, $8.50 for 40 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11" Early Espresso Stampin' Pad, 119670, $5.95 Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker, 119680, $3.50 Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker, 10079, $3.50 Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker, 119681, $3.50 Old Olive 5/8" Satin Ribbon, 117292, $8.95, 15 yards

Winter Post

Image
Here is a quick and easy card we made at our December Christmas party and team time (we now have 100 demonstrators on our Heartfelt Stampers team). Simply place a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock in the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder (Holiday Mini Catalog) and run it through the Big Shot. For the sparkle that doesn't really show when scanning the card, use a sponge dauberto dab the snowflakes with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. Then sponge edges of card stock with Early Espresso Classic ink pad. The skaters are from the Winter Post stamp set and are stamped on Very Vanilla card stock with Crumb Cake Classic ink. Not Quite Navy card stock adds a touch of color and the punched Early Espresso photo corner with gold brad provides the finishing touch. The card itself is a piece of 4-1/4" x 11" Crumb Cake card stock folded in half. I plan to use this card for a winter anniversary. Products used to make this card are: Winter Post stamp set, 111780, $26.
