Emerging Extreme

Image
This card is one of those we made at the recent spring stamping retreat organized by my upline, Aly Schilling. One of our classes was called "Cards for Him". I'm adapting this one to use as a birthday card for my grandson, who turns 12 this week. This card is full of techniques. The Extreme Skateboard stamp (115179, $8.95), was embossed using Versa Mark ink (102283, $7.50) and Black Embossing Powder (109133, $4.75) on Old Olive card stock. The Real Red card stock "straps" are created with the Word Window punch (105090, $15.95) folded in half with black brads (Vintage Brads, 109109, $6.95 for 200). Linen Thread (104199, $4.50, 15 yards) is used between the brads and around the Old Olive 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (115618, $8.95, 10 yards). But the most fascinating technique is the unusual blob in the lefthand corner. This technique is called "Emerging Color" because various designs from the Extreme Elements stampset (115181, $26.95) were stamp

Designer Paper Helps

Image
I needed a quick card to pass around my Bible study group when a relative of one of my ladies passed away. I grabbed a piece of Crushed Curry card stock (I have a large supply to use up before July 1), some coordinating designer paper (Razzleberry Lemonade, 115675, $9.95), Rich Razzleberry card stock, my Eyelet Border punch (113692, $15.95), Bella's Bloom stamp set (111600, $12.95), Whisper White card stock, Rich Razzleberry classic ink pad, Crushed Curry and Old Olive markers and some Crushed Curry Polka Dot Gingham Ribbon (115614, $9.95, 15 yards). Oh, I also used the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set (113252, $25.95). This is the result, put together while I ate my breakfast.

Love those Dots!

Image
I just love the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder(117335, $7.95) from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Although that catalog expires Friday, this is one of the items the company is carrying over, so you can still order it! Of course, you need our Big Shot Die Cut Machine to use it. Although the stamp set is Vintage Vogue (also from the Occasions Mini Catalog but being carried over; 117690 wood mount, $23.95 or 118598 clear mount, $17.95), it loses the antiquey look when set against the Whisper White and stamped in these cheerful colors: Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Always Artichoke. "Birthday Wishes" is from the Sincere Salutations stamp set (115068, $23.95). The button is from Fresh Favorites II (107422, $6.95), which includes 80 square and circle buttons in two sizes and these colors: Always Artichoke, Brocade Blue, Rose Red and So Saffron.

Blushing with Thanks

Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red and Mellow Moss--all colors that are being retired from the Stampin' Up color spectrum as of July 1, 2010. They are also all the colors used in this card. The ink, however, was Chocolate Chip (100908, $5.95). The Cameo Coral flower is from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set (113734, $24.95). I cut the flower out with my paper snips, dabbed the center with my 2-Way Glue Pen (100425, $2.50) and sprinkled it with white Chunky Essentials glitter (108797, $15.95, 4 colors). The Big Shot (113439, $99.95) was my assistant for the rest of the card as I textured the front (Stampin' Up Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, 117335, $7.95) and cut out the Little Leaves (114511, $5.50). Stampin' Up's 8-1/2" x 11" colored quality card stock comes in packages of 24 for $5.50. The order numbers for the colors I used are: 103318, Blush Blossom 100475, Cameo Coral 102030, Ruby Red

Kindness From the Heart

I've been having so much fun with our textured impressions embossing folders! For this card, I used the Elegant Bouquet folder with smaller than normal piece of Soft Suede card stock. The Scallop Trim Border punch that I used on the Whisper White card stock was in the Sale-a-Bration catalog but will appear in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog coming out July 1. I used Bermuda Bay, one of this year's in colors, for the color on this otherwise neutral card. It is the only color on this card that will no longer be available in July. Stamp sets used in this card: Eastern Blooms (111626, $21.95), Heard From the Heart (111644, $22.95) Card stock (8-1/2" x 11"): Soft Suede (115318, $5.50, 24 sheets), Whisper White (100730, $7.50, 40 sheets), Sahara Sand (105328, $7.50, 40 sheets). Classic Inks: Soft Suede (115657, $5.95) and Bermuda Bay (115655, $5.95). Accessories: Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115610, $9.95, 15 yards), Scallop Trim Border punch (no order infor

Razzleberry Lemonade Fun

Image
The layout for this card came from Splitcoast Stampers in this week's sketch challenge. I have tons of Crushed Curry card stock, which will be retiring in July, so this challenge provided a great oppotrunity to use some of it. I had a scrap of designer series paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade pack (115675, $9.95) and found it worked perfectly on this card. The Finial Press Textured Embossing Folder (115963, $7.95) seemed to coordinate perfectly with the dsp, so I ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot for some texture on this card. The stamping on this card is minimal. I stamped the motif from the Wings of Friendship hostess stamp set (level 2) in Rich Razzleberry and added "thinking of you" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (115370, $36.95) in Crushed Curry. Embellishments included the silver brads (104336 $6.95 for 200) and Crushed Curry polka-dot grosgrain ribbon (115614, $9.95 for 15 yards). Using the Ticket Corner punch (107214, $6.95) o

From One Sheet of Designer Paper

Image
I'm still using up retired designer paper that I can't believe I never used before. From one 12"x12" sheet, I was able to make seven cards. If I hadn't used part of the end piece for the cupcake papers, I would have had eight cards. These cards would be suitable for a man or a woman. Here's how you need to cut your piece of designer series paper for eight cards: Cut two pieces at 5-1/4" x 12 "; cut those two pieces in thirds, giving you six 5-1/4"x4" pieces. The remaining 1-1/2" x 12" strip may be cut to fit your card, either at 5-1/2" or 4-1/4". The red bird was cut from Real Red card stock using one of the Magnetic Movers & Shapers dies that was in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I'm hoping this gets carried into the new Idea Book & Catalog in July. The cupcakes were stamped using the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set (111618, $23.95), stamping on different pieces of card stock/designer paper, cutting them out and pie

Fun with Bold

Stampin' Up! has announced a total color renovation! Great colors coming in. Changes all around. Even the in colors are revamped in that there will be 5 instead of 6 and they will last for 2 years. Hooray! With 5 new ones added every year and 5 being held over, we will have 10 fabulous in colors to play with. Of course, that means we need to say good-bye to quite a few old colors. So, while we have them, I'm going to use them. All the colors in the card above will be gone July 1. I have to admit, I haven't used these colors much. I used to use them more, especially for children's cards because they are so conducive to pure fun. Well, this card isn't for children, but it is fun. I used Green Galore, Pink Passion and Lovely Lilac card stock and inks to make this card. Stamp sets were Circle Circus (115778, $28.95) and On Your Birthday (111664, $33.95). The Scallop Circle Punch fit the circle images from the Circle Circus perfectly. I also ran the Pink Passion card s

Going Gray with Passion!

Image
I have made it my goal to create cards with my less-used colors! This card employs Going Gray and Pink Passion cardstock. And it is so quick to make because of the Big Shot. I inserted a piece of Going Gray (4"x5-1/4") card stock into the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot. Then I cut and embossed the butterflies in one step using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die in the Occasions Mini Catalog, which expires April 30. A little silver cord around the two largest butterflies gave them bodies and antennae. I used my Pink Passion Stampin' Write Marker in the centers of the flowers and stamped the "happy birthday" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set in Basic Gray ink. All that was left was to assemble the pieces. Quick and easy. To duplicate this card, you need the following items: Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, 118138, $11.95 Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, 115964, $7.95 Big Shot Die Cut Machine, 113439, $99.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes s

Swish!

After taking the color challenge (see previous post), I decided I really like the Creamy Caramel and Dusty Durango combination and sought a fun color for a man's card. Ah! Bermuda Bay fit the bill. Since Dusty Durango is a perfect color for a basketball, I chose to use the Just Basketball stamp set, one of the many free sets I accumulated during Sale-a-Bration this year. I attached the ribbon a little differently this time. After layering the focal image on the Dusty Durango frame and then on the Bermuda Bay strip and preparing the tag, I punched through all those layers with my Crop-a-Dile and added the Pewter jumbo eyelet. But I wanted the ribbon to come down the side of the stamped image and go through the eyelet. That became a challenge, but one that provided an interesting way to use my ribbon. I threaded one end of the ribbon down through the top of the eyelet and the other end up through the bottom. Then I pulled both eds to the side and tied my knot. I so love the way knot

Color Challenge

Image
When I saw the color challenge on Split Coast Stampers, I knew this stamp set would be perfect. In fact, I can't seem to get enough of this stamp set! The challenge was to use Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink and Dusty Durango. A neutral color was allowed. The centers of the Creamy Caramel flowers are punched out of Pretty in Pink card stock. I lightly sponged the Very Vanilla card stock with Creamy Caramel ink to give it an antique look. The stamps and the ribbon are from the Occasions Mini Catalog. To duplicate this card, you need the following items: Vintage Vogue stamp set, 117690, $23.95 for wood mount; 118598, $17.95 for clear mount Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, 117693, $8.50 Stampin' Around Jumbo Handle, 103661, $5.95 Pretty in Pink Card Stock, 100459, $5.50 for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Dusty Durango Card Stock, 115321, $5.50for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Creamy Caramel Card Stock, 102514, $5.50 for 24 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") Very Vanilla Card Stock,
