Shaving Cream Background

If you want to learn how to make these cards, you really need to sign up for my class being held August 20 (see post below). The inspiration for the colors I used for these cards came from fabric combinations I saw at a quilt shop. I used gable green, barely banana and regal rose inks marbled through shaving cream. I then laid the card stock on the resulting medium, pulled it off, wiped it off and, voila! I picked up the regal rose as a primary color and used the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set. The solitary cupcake was actually stamped on several pieces of card stock, including a piece from Tea Party designer paper for the polka dot cupcake paper. I cut out each piece and adhered them to the marbled background. I love these two cards, as well as the one we are making at my class. If you attend the class, you can use your leftover decorated paper to duplicate these two cards. E-mail me with your RSVP today!

Unique Backgrounds Class

Camping Card

My grandson, Corban, just turned 13. Hard to believe! He is also going on his first wilderness trip with his church youth group and his Dad - the fearless leader. So I chose to make a card that would fit the event. Once again I used the waxed paper technique for the background (crumple the waxed paper, spread it over card stock and iron, transferring the wax; then use the brayer to cover the cardstock; the wax leaves its crinkled design). The stamp set is "Under the Stars". I inked my brayer with Garden Green. I even added the can of beans on the branch to the back of the card and stamped the rolled-up sleeping bag in the bottom corner of the inside. His Dad really got a charge out of the beans! Corban liked the skeeter spray (bottom left).

Sympathy Card

It seems I'm at an age when I am in great need of sympathy cards! Since I'm also planning a class in August, I decided to use one of the techniques I'm going to be teaching. The class is on unique backgrounds and I'll be uploading a flyer in the near future. This one uses waxed paper. The stamp set is "Thoughts and Prayers" and my colors are Garden Green and Chocolate Chip with the image stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.

New Hostess Set

What a busy time of the year! We've been working hard on our landscaping, having lots of overnight company and busy with lots of activities. I don't have much ready to share with you from the new catalog, but I did make this card with the new hostess set. I love it! The Kind & Caring Thoughts has greetings and verses appropriate for wedding, birthday, get well and thank you cards. And, although I didn't use any on this card, the fonts for the greetings are beautiful! I'm just sorry this didn't scan better than it did. I've also come to love this color combination: Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla.
