Crafting Forever

I discovered that one of my grandsons is interested in learning to sketch and even paint. A college student majoring in marketing, he has many interests. He plays violin and guitar and taught himself the keyboard. Definitely a creative young man. So I bought the Crafting Forever stamp set to make his birthday card, which I never photographed. This card is a variation of that one. I used watercolor paper for his card, but I didn't have enough left for my class to make the same one. So I altered it but used some of the same ideas.

The Wood Textures designer series paper runs its course and I still have quite a bit to use up. I decided it would make a great background for this card, but still needed enough pieces for all my class attendees. That means some careful cutting and sometimes means not everyone will have the exact same piece.

The words on this card are from the previously discontinued Work of Art stamp set and the paint splatters are from the retiring Touches of Texture stamp set. Even the acrylic shapes disappeared from our catalog when the colors were revamped. BUT the Crafting Forever set is being carried over into the next catalog.

You can tell I used my blends to color the clay pot and the brush handles. I used my markers  to add paint to the brush bristles and even some paint slops to some handles. Then some more fussy cutting! We attached the pot with Stampin' Dimensionals, of course. I still remember how long it took me to use those and now I use them all the time.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. More Quilt Cards

The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
