Happy Independence Day

I am in love with our new In Colors! And using Lovely Lipstick with Blueberry Bushel on this card makes it perfect for Independence Day - or any other occasion.

I used the Stamparatus to create this wreath. It is necessary to create a template first. You need two squares the same size for your template, one centered over the other but tipped on its point. You then choose your flower and set it inside both squares but toward the edge. Set your card stock in one of the squares. Pick up the stamp with your stamparatus, ink it and stamp the card stock. Turn your card stock so it is in the tipped square and stamp again.  Keep rotating your card stock until you have completed  your circle. I did not use the stamparatus for the flower centers or the greenery.

My flower is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set but the greenery is from the Daisy Delight set.


The "happy" thinlit has been retired (and so is the striped embossing folder). I applied the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to my Lovely Lipstick card stock and cut it out. The first card was as I intended, but I put my thinlit on the wrong side of the "happy" for the second card. Our motto is always that there are no mistakes in stamping, only creative opportunities. So at the suggestion of one of my class attendees, I added a layer of Dazzling Details glitter to the sticky side of the mistaken one and then attached using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
