Masked Valentine

I recently took an on-line class from Pink Buckaroo Designs to learn how to use Stampin' Up! masks on my cards. I have had the Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks for some time but never got comfortable using them. What a great learning experience!

Anyway, I did not have some of the products that we used in the initial card, so I had to improvise for my class. A couple items are discontinued, but my faithful class attendees have no problem with that. The nice thing is that this enabled me to use up some of my leftover products!

On this card, we merely traced inside the hearts and then scribbled them in - no coloring. We had to use the fine tip end of the Real Red Stampin' Write Marker because the wider tip gives a completely different effect.

My hearts are a slightly different shape because I used the retired Hearts Collection rather than the current Sweet & Sassy Framelits. The other retired item I used is the self-adhesive "lace" down the side for an edge, although the original used our new Whisper White Mini Pompom Trim. My final substitute was the red embroidery floss (304 DMC) for the bow.

The card uses Real Red, Basic Black and Real Red card stock as well as White Stampin' Emboss Powder. And, of course, Stampin' Dimensionals.
