Cherries?

Image
With another set of pre-cuts, I played around with the Sheltering Tree stamp set, stamping the leaves in Wild Wasabi and Watermelon Wonder in an effort to make a tree loaded with cherries to match the piece of dsp. Once again I was playing with the Cherry on Top 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack. Just love those designs! The button with my poorly drawn rays is supposed to be the sun...

Little Changes

Image
Using a set of leftover pre-cuts from my June class, I made just a few changes and came up with a totally different card. I just flipped over the designer series paper to use the reverse side and the easily converted from a birthday card to an anniversary card, although I suppose the nesting bird and its mate is intended to be for a new or expected baby... But it worked for this, too. This stamp set is the hostess stamp set from last year's catalog—Nuts About You. The heart in the corner is from another discontinued stamp set, but it was just what the card needed. The colors all coordinate with the Cherry On Top 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack.

Fabulous Florets Still in Use

Image
Another kit from my upline converted to my own design. I just love this card! And I've never stopped loving the discontinued Fabulous Florets stamp set! Because my stamps are narrower than those used in the original design, I decided to add the skinny strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock to fill in where I thought there was a need. My bow on the stems is linen thread wrapped around two fingers and then twisted and attached with a glue dot. This simple design actually uses three stamps sets—one for the flower, one for the background and one for the greeting. Products Used: Fabulous Florets stamp set, retired For All Things stamp set (8), W 135152, $25.00; C 135155, $18.00 Sheltering Tree photopolymer stamp set (14), 137163, $25.00   Bermuda Bay 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131197, $7.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad, 126975, $6.50 Wild Wasabi Classic Stampin' Pad, 126959, $6.50 Island Indigo Class

All that Glitters...

My upline is so gracious in sending us card kits once a month. This is another kit that I made my own because I don't own the stamp set she used in her original design. There's a certain elegance to this design with the contrasting colors and all that gold! Products Used: Four You stamp set (4), W 130535, C 130538, retired Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Rich Razzleberry 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 115316, $7.00 Bohemian 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 138446, $11.00 Gold 12" x 12" Glimmer Paper (2), 133719, $5.00 Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin Pad, 126950, $6.50 Gold Sequin Trim (10 yards), 132983, $5.00 Gold Metallic Baker's Twine (25 yards), 132975, $3.50 Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (3), 133787, $17.00 Stars Framelits (5), 133723, $27.00

I love the effect of the alcohol technique I just played around with for this card. A perfect design for men! Here's how you do it: Just color a clean acrylic block with Stampin' Write Markers, spritz with rubbing alcohol and stamp on piece of Whisper White cardstock. I used three colors (Old Olive, Delightful Dijon and Bermuda Bay). Be sure you hold the Stampin' Spritzer at least 12 inches away from the block so you have a very fine mist. The alcohol dries quickly so you can stamp over the mottled ink. I used Early Espresso here, but I think the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad would be more vivid. Admittedly, the stamp set I used is from the expired Occasions catalog, but we have two alternate stamp sets that would work just as well in this design: Wetlands (page 116) and The Wilderness Awaits (page 86). The button is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit.

Triangles in Design

Image
When I looked at a Bermuda Bay sheet of dsp in the Cherry On Top paper stack, I saw triangles and thought of the triangular punch I had purchased from the old catalog but never used. Now that it is no longer available, I found a use for it! I think the arrangements of the triangular pieces look like pinwheels. This is just a fun card. Actually, the colors make it fun. Products Used : Crazy about You stamp set (33), W 138856, $52.00; C 138859, $39.00; P 137137, $25.00 Crushed Curry 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131199, $7.00 Cherry on Top 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack (48), 138443, $8.00 Candy Dots Brad Bases (25), 132293, $3.00 Brights Candy Dots (100), 130931, $6.00 Regals Candy Dots (100), 130932, $6.00 Neutrals Candy Dots (100), 130934, $6.00 [Ribbon and triangular punch are discontinued products.]

Crazy About You in Layers

Image
Playing around with the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack, I decided I just love the Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry color combination. The Crazy About You stamp set provided both the flower and the leaves. Admittedly, I "fussy cut" the leaves and flower, which was cut in segments and layered with Stampin' Dimensionals. I have ordered the punch that coordinates with this flower (for just one layer), but it hasn't arrived yet. The words are from the Floral Wings hostess stamp set, however. The Crazy about You stamp set is one of few that you can order in rubber or photopolymer. I actually prefer the way the rubber holds the ink and transfers it to your card stock, but when I'm using a stamp set that involves a lot of lining up, I am more than happy to have a completely transparent medium to use (photopolymer). Products Used: Floral Wings photopolymer stamp set (10), 139169, $10.00 (hostess only) Crazy About You stamp set (33), W 138856, $52.00; C 13885

Sprinkles of Life Birthday Cupcake

Image
I'm still using the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set. So much fun! I actually CASED this card from page 5 in the annual catalog. Mine does look quite different, however, in spite of the fact that I took my inspiration from that sample. I used the Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers to color the candle before stamping. After I stamped the cupcake base, I also stamped the "frosting" on the same scrap of Whisper White cardstock so I would know where to place the candle. By stamping it before popping up the punched-out Watermelon Wonder frosting with Stampin' Dimensionals, I was able to make the candle appear to be inserted. Products Used: Sprinkles of Life Photopolymer stamp set (22), 139971, $21.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Bermuda Bay 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131197, $7.00 Watermelon Wonder 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138334, $7.00 Cher

One Good Thing on Top of Another

Image
Still playing with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set for my June stamp class! Just so much fun. I was also featuring the new In Colors along with the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Pack. The only complication was the need to wash the stamp between colors, since we were using the same one over and over. Another cheerful card. Products Used: Sprinkles of Life photopolymer stamp set (22), 139971, $21.00) Whisper White 8½"x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Crushed Curry 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 131199, $7.00 Mint Macaron 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138337, $7.00 Watermelon Wonder 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138334, $7.00 Tip Top Taupe 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138422, $7.00 Cherry On Top 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack (48), 138443, $8.00 Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin' Pad, 138325, $6.50 Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad, 138323, $6.50 Mint Macaron Classic Stampin' Pad, 138326, $6.50 Crushed Cu

Watermelon Fun

Image
I am loving the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack! Every card I've made with it so far has resulted in such a happy look. This one also uses the Work of Art stamp set, although the seeds are supposed to be leaves in the Sprinkles of Life set. I'm sure the new In Colors contribute to the cheerfulness. We made this at my class tonight and it went together super quickly! Products Used: Work of Art stamp set (11), W 134111, $30.00; C 134114, $22.00 Sprinkles of Life photopolymer stamp set (22), 139971, $21.00 Whisper White 8½"x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $8.50 Cucumber Crush 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138335, $7.00 Watermelon Wonder 8½" x 11" cardstock (24), 138334, $7.00 Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (48 6"x6" sheets), 138443, $8.00 Cucumber Crush Classic Stampin' Pad, 138324, $6.50 Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad, 138323, $6.50 Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, 132708, $6.00

Playing with New Products

Image
This year's Ronald McDonald stamp set is to die for! So many possibilities. And it has a Tree Builder punch to coordinate with it. I couldn't wait to receive this stamp set and start playing with it. When I showed this card I designed to my May class attendees, they requested that I teach them how to make it. In all honesty, with the punch, it's not hard at all! I tried to use the new In Colors and just had to make an envelope with the new envelope paper, a lighter weight designer series paper that is plain on one side and designed on the inside. Products Used: Sprinkles of Life stamp set (22), photopolymer, 139971, $21.00 Delightful Dijon 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 138338, $7.00 Early Espresso 8½" x 11" card stock (24)119686, $7.00 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad, 126974, $6.50 Cucumber Crush Classic Stampin' Pad, 138324, $6.50 Delightful Dijon Classic Stampin'

Fun With Pre-Cuts

Image
Every month, my upline sends me pre-cuts for two cards for which I can find instructions on our demonstrator's group facebook page. However, I don't always have the stamps she uses, as in this case. But I had similar stamps to draw from. Here is the result: I love the Blackberry Bliss used on this card. The butterflies come from a Sale-a-Bration set, but the flowers are current in both the outgoing catalog and the new one: Flower Patch, a Photopolymer stamp set. And the words come from the Work of Art stamp set, also in both the outgoing and the new catalogs.

A Happy Card

Image
I don't always know what to do with some designs on our papers, but when I looked at this one, my first reaction was, "What a happy print!" So I designed this card to be simply that: happy. This print is included in the Painted Blooms dsp, which retires with the current mini catalog June 3. I already had the Blackberry Bliss bow sitting in my work room and decided it would be perfect combined with our new word thinlits, introduced in the Occasions Mini Catalog and carried over into our new annual catalog. However, as I look at this photo of the card, I realize the top bow has slipped. I think I'll add an extra glue dot beneath one of its loops. Products Used: Daffodil Delight 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $6.95 Blackberry Bliss 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 133675, $6.95 Painted Blooms 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 137784, $10.95 Hello You Thinlits (4), 137363, $25.00 Bow Builder Punch, 137414, $18.00
