Mosaic Madness

Image
I love the Modern Mosaic Embossing folder and the coordinating Mosaic Madness stamp set and Mosaic punch! But I found it difficult to come up with designs I really liked. But it's coming together now. I have to admit, I spent quite a bit of time looking at designs on the web, but now the ideas are coming. This first card employs a new technique, which I plan to teach at my August stamp class. If you're interested in joining us, contact me for details. This card is made with Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White, along with a little Elegant Eggplant ink. In all honesty, it is very similar to one designed by Dayanna Donng. I may vary the design somewhat for my class, but the technique will be the same. I'm having fun playing around with it.

Oh, the Similarities

Image
This card is very similar to the note card I posted before; it's also similar to one in our catalog, but I still love it, including the details I changed from the other designs. The edgelit along the top doesn't actually line up perfectly with the stamped image, but it's close enough. I noticed that the catalog uses the opposite side of the embossed paper as the right side, but it looks good either way. Depends on whether you want the mosaic outlines or the mosaics themselves to stand out. I really like the In Color Boutique Details for embellishments on our cards. Products Used: Background Builders stamp set (3), W 129147, $22.95; C 129150, $16.95 Chalk Talk stamp set (6), W 130631 $25.95; C 130634, $18.95 Crisp Cantaloupe 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131298, $6.95 Coastal Cabana 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131297, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin' Pad, 131176, $5.95 Coas

Brand New and Different!

Time's Running Out!

More Gingham

Image
Just love that gingham! Actually, this card started out as a background for different designer paper (see yesterday's post), but I didn't really like it. So I laid a piece of Melon Mambo gingham from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper against and knew it was right. A scalloped edge in Whisper White, another favorite new stamp set, and Voila! The little flower behind the "Hello there!" is third generation Melon Mambo ink. Products Used: Timeless Talk stamp set (7), W 126605, $22.95; C 126607, $16.95 Kind & Cozy stamp set (6), W 129123, $21.95; C 129126, $16.95 Melon Mambo 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 115320, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Gingham Garden 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, 129310, $10.95 Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad, 126948, $5.95 Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (10 yards), 119251, $6.95 Scallop Edge Border punch, 119882, $15.95 Window Frames Collection Framelit

Loving It!

Okay, so I'm in love with the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper—and the Kind & Cozy stamp set! I don't have to worry about having tons of it left over when Stampin' Up! retires it for the next catalog (maybe it will be one of those few that will carry over). Products Used: Kind & Cozy stamp set (6), W 129123, $21.95; C 129126, $16.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Island Indigo 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122923, $6.95 Daffodil Delight 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $6.95 Gingham Garden 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 129310, $10.95 Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad, 126986, $5.95 Island Indigo Stampin' Write Marker, 131905, $3.50 Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Marker, 131266, $3.50 Brights Stampin' Write Markers (10), 131259, $28.95 (used Daffodil Delight & Melon Mambo) 2½" Circle Punch, 120906, $16.95 Apothecary Accents Framelits (5), 127003, $24.95 P

A Touch of Red

Image
My grandson is turning 17 tomorrow. Doesn't seem possible. He's such serious young man. I needed a masculine card and I don't have a lot of options. This card is not splashy and it uses a few retired items (the dsp, the button and the ribbon), but I think it works well. I played with the new Chalk Talk framelits and its coordinating Chalk Talk stamp set. I fear I used three stamp sets for this, including the Hearts a Flutter and its coordinating framelits and Papaya Collage (bird). The button, ribbon and red eye (Real Red Stampin' Write Marker), added a little vitality.

More Kissing

Image
Back from a wonderful vacation in the Adirondack Mountains where we have gone with family for almost 40 years. Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York, is a great place that does not necessitate roughing it while there. Special speakers are brought in for chapel services and seminars. We play on a sandy beach on Lake Pleasant (my 3-year-old granddaughter gave me some hard workouts!) and have access to many other fun things. Now that I'm back, I finally finished another card using the kiss technique. I had fun playing with it. Less is better when it comes to the inked up stamp for this technique, so I stamped off once before "kissing" (touching with another stamp to remove some of the ink). I used two of our new colors for this card, Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay. Products Used: Hearts a Flutter stamp set (8), W 131922, $25.95; C 129252, $18.95 Papaya Collage stamp set (7), W 132055, $31.95' C 126612, $23.95 Perfectly Penned stamp set (4), W 128703, $16.95;

Golden Anniversary Card

Image
Although Summer Starfruit is not my favorite color, it seemed appropriate for a golden anniversary card because of its golden hues. Also, it coordinates well with the now retired Comfort Cafe designer series paper. I have to admit I also used the retired Fresh Vintage stamp set (a previous Sale-A-Bration offer) to decorate the hearts because the flowers seem similar to those used in the dsp. But the Memorable Moments stamp set, framelits, punch and embossing folders are still current, as are the Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse colors.

Hello Kiss

Image
I'm preparing for my upcoming July stamp class, which includes the Kiss technique. No, this doesn't use your lips; it uses stamps and textures. And this card features Strawberry Slush, one of our luscious in-colors.  I used a jumbo wheel for this card, but another version of the technique is accomplished with two stamps. If you look closely, you will see a light design in the otherwise solid butterflies. By the way, the card is white, but the edges didn't show up so I laid a piece of Strawberry Slush card stock behind it. If you've never used one of our wheels, you must have a handle to hold it for you as you roll the design on your card stock. The handles come in two sizes and are not pricey, plus you only buy the handle once and insert various wheels. Products Used: Lacy & Lovely stamp set (7), W 132025, $24.95; C 122887, $17.95 Butterfly Collection Jumbo Wheel, 130112, $8.50 Jumbo Stampin' Round Handle, 103661, $5.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11

Timeless

Image
I'm having fun playing with the Timeless Talk stamp set. This card features the big bike from the set. I used two of the more subtle designs from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper, stamping right on one of them. Products Used: Timeless Talk stamp set (7), W 126605, $22.95; C 126607, $16.95 Pear Pizzazz 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 131201, $6.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Gingham Garden 12" x 12" designer series paper (12), 129310, $10.95 Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, 126980, $5.95 Mini Brads (200), $122941, $5.50

Love that Gingham Garden!

Image
I'm just loving the Gingham Garden Suite—and I'm falling in love with Melon Mambo all over again! And pairing Melon Mambo with Daffodil Delight is a luscious combination. This card uses both the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper and the Kind & Cozy stamp set. And it's so simple when using dsp, a stamp set with coordinating punch and a framelit to cut a fancy shape. Products Used: Kind & Cozy stamp set (6), W 129123, $21.95; C 129126, $16.95 Melon Mambo 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 115320, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Gingham Garden 12" x 12" two-sided Designer Series Paper (12), 129310, $10.95 Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad, 126948, $5.95 Daffodil Delight & Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Markers, Brights (10), 131259, $28.95 Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Marker, 131266, $3.50 Night of Navy Stampin'Write Marker, 100069, $3.50 2½" Circle Punch, 120906, $16.95 Apothecary A
