Ship Ahoy!

Image
Of the cards I did for my last class, this is my favorite, even though it was also the fussiest. The rosette behind the ship is made from a strip of 1¼" x 11" Cherry Cobbler card stock scored at every quarter inch, fan-folded and joined together with a piece of sticky strip. After flattening the corrugated piece of card stock, I simply transferred it to a Jumbo Sticky Round (Holiday Catalog) and then fastened the ship image over it using more sticky strip. Day of Gratitude

Image
This card, also made at my recent stamp class, was inspired by one of the samples shown in this year's core catalog on page 26. When adding texture to your cards with one of our embossing folders, it is important to stamp your images before running the card stock through the Big Shot. Since I had no More Mustard buttons left in my button box, I cut this one out with the Sweet Buttons Embosslit, which embosses and cuts 6 different buttons in one step. Products Used: Day of Gratitude stamp set (7), W 120835, $26.95; C 121148, $18.95 More Mustard 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 100946, $6.95 Riding Hood Red 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111348, $6.95 Early Espresso 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119686, $6.95 Always Artichoke 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 105119, $6.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 More Mustard Classic Stampin' Pad, 126964, $5.95 Riding Hood Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 126968, $5.95 Early E

The theme of my last class was masculine and fall cards. This is a very simple card suitable for a man. Did you know you can use a square punch to cut the notches in your paper strips? Once again, I used Stampin' Write Markers to color my stamp (Elegant Eggplant and Garden Green). The brads on this card are from the pack of Metallic Brads, but we used coordinating brads (Elegant Eggplant and Garden Green) in class. I seem to use my Big Shot most of the time these days. I know the machine is expensive, but if you host a workshop in your home and accumulate at least $400 in sales, you can purchase it for half price! Contact me and we'll schedule one soon. Products Used: Nature's Pace stamp set (6), W 122660, $24.95; C 122662, $17.95 Sahara Sand 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121043, $6.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Garden Green 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 102584, $6.95 Elegant Eggplant 8½" x 11" card

Autumn Leaf

I recently held a stamp class where we made autumn and masculine cards. As always, I try to include at least one new technique in each class. For this card, we used sponge daubers to add Champagne Mist shimmer paint to the second stamp in our two-step stamping (Gently Falling stamp set). Because of all the great tools Stampin' Up! provides, this card was very simple to make. The Big Shot elements are available through the current Holiday Catalog. Products Used: Gently Falling stamp set (12), W123802; $39.95; C 123804, $28.95 Cajun Craze 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119684, $6.95 Crumb Cake 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 120953, $6.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad, 126965, $5.95 Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (½ fl. oz.), 116806, $5.95 Sponge Daubers (12), 102892, $10.95 Neutrals Designer Buttons (72), 119743, $8.95 Linen Thread (15 yds.), 104199, $4.50 Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch,

For my Daughter's Birthday

Image
Sorry I've been MIA. I have lots of cards to scan and share with you, so keep tuning in. When my eldest daughter's birthday came in September, I had to design a really special card. I chose to use some of my favorite but discontinued designer series paper (Beyond the Garden) and wanted to incorporate a rosette in the design. Although this print was designed to coordinate with the Fabulous Florets stamp set, I discovered that the Apothecary Art stamp set works very well with it. I used markers the same colors as those in the paper to color the stamp. Admittedly, the coloring of this stamp is a challenge. If I were to make this card again, however, I would probably use the blender pen instead of a marker to color the flowers with Tangerine Tango ink after stamping because those in the dsp are a lighter shade than the maker.  The banner with the "Happiest Birthday" greeting is actually cut from a different stamp in the same set because I wanted it to be a little la
