Happiest Birthday

Today is my daughter Meredith's birthday. But she's in New Jersey awaiting the completion of paperwork so she can bring their newly adopted infanthome. Karis was born Monday morning (January 16) at 1:38 AM and weighed in at 7 pounds, 1 ounce. What an exciting time! Obviously, it will be a little late when Meredith receives this birthday card. Although this might be too flowery for her taste, but I just love it! Everything but the basic card stock and inks is from the Occasions Mini Catalog.


I just love the Twitterpated dsp and think the Apothecary Art stamp set coordinates beautifully with it. In fact, I think that even the Tea Shoppe stamp set coordinates well with it and you will soon see a card or two posted using that set. Of course, the Bordering on Romance stamp set was designed as part of the Twitterpated Product Suite and I did use that set as well in designing this card. And using the Apothecary Art stamp set meant I just had to use the Labels Collection of Framelits Dies!

I used the Blender Pens with Island Indigo and Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pads to color in the flowers on the border. But I used Stampin' Write Markers to color the stamp from the Apothecary Art stamp set (Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, and Riding Hood Red). I then colored the flowers on that image with the Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker. The greeting is a separate stamp in the set that was stamped with Riding Hood Red ink.

One of the new line of products in this catalog is the Edgelits Dies. They even have coordinating Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, although I didn't use them on this particular card. But I did use the Edgelit Die from the Adorning Accents set on both the dsp and the Island Indigo card stock. And the "scrap" remaining after cutting the Twitterpated designer series paper was a perfect addition to the flap of my envelope!

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. More Quilt Cards

The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. The greetings on both these cards, as on so many others, come from the Best Birds stamp set. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
