Bonus Projects

At Oktoberfest, we were given these two bonus projects to work on if we completed our other items and had extra time.

This card uses a stamp set that will be available in the Occasions Mini Catalog in January. I can't wait to get it. Everyone who knows me at all knows that I am obsessed with my teas (black teas of all kinds; no herbal infusions). I know that once we demonstrators are able to pre-order items from that catalog, this set will be first on my list!

This pinwheel was surprisingly easy! I laid a punched circle of card stock on the square of Big Top Birthday designer series paper (122348, $10.95) and cut from each of the corners to that circle. I then poked a hole in one side of each corresponding corner as well as the center of the Real Red card stock circle, the square of dsp, and the closed Cellophane Bag. I then inserted the glimmer brad (121006, $4.90) through the circle, folded each corner in to the center and fastened all layers to the Cellophane Bag with the brad. The Cellophane Bags containing the M&Ms are in the current Holiday Mini Catalog (124134, $2.50, 50 bags), without the candy. Now that I've seen how nice they are for things like this, I hope Stampin' Up! will continue to offer the bags for sale.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. More Quilt Cards

The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
