Today I decided I needed to design a card using River Rock card stock, a color I seem to ignore. So I paired it with Always Artichoke card stock, which I ran through the Big Shot using the Two Tags Bigz Die. I then stamped Birthday Wishes in Always Artichoke classic ink (Sincere Salutations stamp set) and punched it out with the Scallop Oval Punch. I added a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button Brad. Since those brads are no longer available, you could substitute with a Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brad.

Inspired by Nature is the featured stamp set on this card. I stamped the grasses with River Rock Classic Ink. I then colored the flower side with Bravo Burgundy, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Markers before stamping the image on the front. Obviously, I had to move the stamp down a ways in order to fit the flowers below the tagged greeting. I wasn't sure I liked the card at first, but it has grown on me and I find I am quite fond of it.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
