Glittery Butterfly

The Big Shot makes fancy so easy! This card, in Bashful Blue and Rose Red features the Top Note and Beautiful Butterflies bigz dies. I adhered a piece of sticky sheet to Whisper White card stock before running it through the Big Shot for the butterfly. Then I used my hobby knife to cut away the spots from the top layer of the pink protective sheet on the sticky sheet (our sticky sheets are sticky on both sides). Then I covered those spots with the Rose Pink glitter from the Fine Cosmo glitter stack. After I emptied the leftover glitter into its container, I removed the rest of the pink protective covering from the sticky sheet and covered that with the Light Blue glitter from the same stack. My Basic Black marker with a couple black brads made the antennae. Before mounting everything, I stamped the small flower stamp from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set randomly on the card front with matching Bashful Blue ink. I only fastened the center of the butterfly to the designer paper for a 3D effect, which you probably can't catch from the picture.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
