A Rosey Birthday

Image
This is the first card I made with the new Thinlits  die from Stampin' Up! It came together gradually, but I love this designer print. Party Invitation

Image
My daughter asked me to design an invitation to her daughter's birthday party. Kyah will be turning 4 in October and is having a bug party. Green grapes on skewers will be caterpillars. They're planning dirt pudding with gummy worms and bug juice and a lot of other fun things. I actually saw this card, or something similar, on Pinterest, but couldn't find it again when I went searching for it. I think it's a fun card and I'm sure Kyah will like it, too. Especially with the little googly eyes! Products Used: Stylin' Girl stamp set (4), W 130700, $18.95; C 130703, $14.95 Note Cards (5" x 3½") & Envelopes (20), 131527, $5.95 Polka Dot Parade 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 126902, $10.95 Marina Mist 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119682, $6.95 Daffodil Delight 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119683, $6.95 Real Red 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 102482, $6.95 Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 126949, $5.95

Christmas Punch Art

Image
This Circle Thinlit card has no stamping on the front. Instead I used the wings of the Bird Builder punch to make the petals of my poinsettia and mounted them with Stampin' Dimensionals. I shortened the punched branches and tucked them beneath the  petals and added a button for my flower center. A little taffeta ribbon and some Season of Style designer paper finished it off. All I needed was the greeting from the Delightful Dozen stamp set and it was ready to go. [The first photo shows the front of the card; the second is the open card.] A tip for using the thinlits: To save paper, cut your card stock 5½" x 6" and line up with the thinlit. For my designer paper, I cut my strip 5½" x 3" and lined it up with the wide portion of the thinlit so the circle cuts would line up. I did have to trim a little off along the score line, but it helped the dsp to fit perfectly and enable the swing of the circle. Products Used: Delightful Dozen stamp set (12), W

Ornamental Winter Frost

Image
When I started this card, I didn't like it at all. But after it sat a couple days, I started playing with it and the end result turned into something I really do like. Plus I've gotten a number of very favorable comments from customers who have seen it. The "swing card" is made so easily by using our new Circle Card Thinlits Die. I haven't used the extras that come with it yet, although I can see using them in the future. The rhinestones and silver ribbon brought this card to life. The above photo shows what the card looks like when standing up. Below is a scan of how it looks closed, as you take it from the envelope. When opened to read, the card looks like this scan: Products Used: Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (9), W 128048, $34.95; C 128051, $25.95 Come to Bethlehem stamp set (4), retired Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (24), W 128748, $36.95; C 127802, $26.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Smoky Slate 8½"

Musical Birthday Card

Image
Yesterday we drove to my eldest daughter's home to celebrate her birthday. My corporate pilot husband was unable to join us, so I rode with my other daughter's family to Syracuse.  Obviously I had to have a card for her. Since she is very musical, I wanted to use the music score designer paper from the Modern Medley series. After I finished it I thought, I should have dyed white baker's twine black to go on the button instead of using the linen thread. But I still like the effect and perhaps the black would have been too stark a contrast with the Very Vintage button. Products Used: Timeless Talk stamp set (7), W 126605, $22.95; C 126607, $16.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Basic Black 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121045, $6.95 Modern Medley 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, 126926, $10.95 Staz-on Jet Black Ink Pad, 101406, $7.95 Very Vintage Designer Buttons (24), 129327, $5.95 Linen Thread (15 yards), 104199, $

Pennant Parade for Christmas

Image
This past week has been exceptionally busy with extra babysitting for my granddaughters and lots of canning and jam-making. In addition, it was training week for Leadership Council at Community Bible Study. I had scheduled a Christmas card class for yesterday morning and was still short one design. Struggling to come up with a fairly simple but lovely design, I remembered the Pennant Parade stamp set. One pennant combined with the plant pot image makes a perfect Christmas tree with just the right mood to fit the Season of Style designer series paper in the holiday catalog. I could have added some bling with the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the "garland", but I didn't think of it until I began writing this up. However, I was truly satisfied with the end result. I used the coordinating punch for the tree but had to cut out the star by hand. Surprisingly, the Baked Brown Sugar ink gave the star a golden look. By the way, the catalog says this designer paper has Old Oli

Evergreen Christmas

Image
I designed this card based on a sketch challenge from Splitcoaststampers.com and I really like its clean look. The Evergreen stamp set is another set carried over from last year but not appearing on the pages of either the core or holiday catalog. Each banner strip is just one inch wide. I used Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler with the Season of Style designer series paper, colors the catalog lists as being used in these papers. Also, I stamped the tree off on scrap paper before stamping on the card front so it would be light enough for the words to show. It's probably best to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to help place your words and your star where you want them. Products Used: Evergreen stamp set (5), W 127970, $25.95; C 127973, $18.95 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (24), W 128748, $36.95; C 127802, $26.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Old Olive 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 100702, $6.95 Cherry Cobbler 8½" x 11" card stock (24)

Ornament Keepsakes

Image
Because I love the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set with its coordinating Framelits, I was excited to discover that it is one of the sets carried over from last year, although it's not shown in either the core catalog or the holiday mini. I chose Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise for this card (I had forgotten how much I like Pacific Point). Products used: Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (9), W 128048, $34.95; C 128051, $25.95 Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies (8), 127816, $24.95 Delightful Dozen stamp set (12), W 128547, $32.95; C 122652, $24.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Pacific Point 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111350, $6.95 Pacific Point Classic Stampin' Pad, 126951, $5.95 Tempting Turquoise Classic Stampin' Pad, 126952, $5.95 Delicate Designs Embossing Folders (2), 127023, $8.95 Large Scallop Edgelit, 127019, $7.95 Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, 113439, $99.95        Half price with a workshop netting $400 or

The Versatility of Mosaic Madness

Image
Okay, I've used this stamp set a lot. To be perfectly honest, I never expected to use it so much when I purchased it. I liked the embossing folder so I figured I needed the stamp set. For this card, I arranged the individual mosaics in such a way that they form a Christmas tree. The "Merry Christmas" is from the retired "Come to Bethlehem" stamp set, but the rest of the products are current. I punched each word separately with the Word Window punch and then used tweezers to hold the card stock while punching the other side, customizing the size of my word window. Products Used: Mosaic Madness stamp set (11), W 130246, $26.95; C 130249, $18.95 Cherry Cobbler 8½" x 11" card stock (24),  119685, $6.95 Old Olive 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 100702, $6.95 Chocolate Chip 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 102128, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Season of Style 4½" x 6½" Designer Series Pape
