Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper

The Sale-a-Bration flyer doesn't begin to show just how gorgeous this Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper is! And it is so versatile. Use it as it is or color part with blends or just smear ink on with an ink pad. On the two cards I'm showing here, I did some more fussy cutting, using the flowers in the design as my focal points.

Both cards use the same dsp but are done so differently. For the first one, I used my Flirty Flamingo ink pad and smeared it across the card stock, coloring the entire background. I then chose a flower from the unused piece and cut it out, attaching it with a dimensional. The ribbon is last year's In Color ribbon in Flirty Flamingo. These colors are being retired in June when we get five new In Colors.  The embossed greetings for both cards come from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set, also a Sale-a-Bration product. The embossing is done with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder on Glossy White card stock for the first card and on Vellum card stock for the second card.


This second card uses the designer paper as is for the bottom of the card. After cutting out my chosen flower, I colored it with the the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends; the leaves are colored with the Old Olive Stampin' Blends. I have a hard time deciding which card I like most, but I decided to do the Flirty Flamingo card at our stamp class because it is quicker and easier to put together. Plus we are using the Stampin' Blends on another card. This second card, however, will be one of those on display when my customers arrive. A simple trick for adhering your vellum to cardstock without the glue standing out is to make a small puddle of Multipurpose glue on your silicone mat and then sponge it on the back of your vellum.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
