Heartland Stamp Set

Image
I bought the "Heartland" stamp set specifically for the little boy with his geese. The image just appeals to me. I like the other images, too, especially the barn. But the boy is tops with me. So I set about designing a card with that design in mind and had great fun framing the image after I water colored it. I have started heat setting my Archival Ink to be sure it won't bleed at all. Usually there is no problem, but some colors seem to cause bleeding (mostly yellows, it seems). My primary colors are Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim. And I'm loving the "Layered Leaves" 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder! In fact, I now have all the 3D folders except "Ruffled". Eventually. That one reminds me of a tiled roof. I used Powder Pink for the boy's skin and a few highlights on the geese, taking care not to get too much ink on my Aqua Painter.  It's important to cut the circle from the Emerald Envy card stock using the embossi

Bonus Class Card

Image
At my June class, I offered a bonus card—bonus because it consisted primarily of discontinued items. But it's a happy card and an easy, new technique. Used a brayer to roll three colors—Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Tempting Turquoise—onto a piece of SAB dsp (Inside the Lines). Added a ribbon, a flower (Botanical Builder Framelits) and the word "happy" (Hello You Thinlits).

Using Old DSP

Image
Finding this pretty designer series paper in my stash, I just had to use it. Since I wasn't sure what color green it is, I found a coordinating color (Always Artichoke) and stamped on the dsp itself. The Floral Phrases stamp set seemed to fit the elegance of the paper's design. I love this card and almost wish I had even more of this paper to use.

"Best Birds" are Love Birds

Image
Designing for my stamp class when also needing a special anniversary card for my daughter and son-in-law, I chose to use the "Best Birds" stamp set. I had long admired it in our previous catalog and was thrilled to discover it was carried over into the new catalog. So I quickly ordered the bundle while I could. I think this is one of my very favorite cards! No designer series paper on this one - I made my own using the new In Color, Powder Pink, along with last year's In Colors, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy. Blender pens for coloring, Basic Black Archival Ink for stamping and Soft Suede for stamping on the background. I painted all items before cutting them out using the Birds & Blooms Thinlits. I thought mounting the birds so the female was leaning into the male made this card especially appropriate for an anniversary card. I originally planned to use the In Color Bitty Bows but had misplaced them; so I used the Dapper Denim ruched ribbon from last year's

Bright Wishes Stamp Set

Image
There are so many stamp sets in the new catalog that I would love to purchase. If I had tons of money, I'd order them all right now. But I'd never get around to playing with all of them if I did. When I ordered "Bright Wishes" I ordered it because I love the image, but then I thought about all the time it takes to color it in. So, in preparation for my June stamp class, I chose to stamp it in Basic Black Archival ink and then highlight areas with my White Stampin' Chalk Marker. I love the results. I experimented using different color card stock, as you will see below. This one features the new In Color, Tranquil Tide. I do wish I hadn't tried to highlight the word "wish" with my chalk marker, something I won't try again. The first card I designed using this stamp involved coloring. To achieve the vivid colors, I embossed the image first using some old black embossing powder and then colored with Stampin' Markers. Products Used:

More Fresh Fruit

Image
Here are two strawberry cards, one made with the Fresh Fruit stamp set and one using the Basket of Wishes stamp set, but both using the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper from last year's catalog. Although both the dsp and the Fresh Fruit set are no longer available, you can still purchase the Basket of Wishes photopolymer stamp set (11 stamps, 142200, $17). Both these cards use the doily and punch design with the same dsp. Makes it simple!

In Love with Fresh Fruit

Image
Why, oh why didn't I use this stamp set more when it was still in our catalog? I designed a number of cards for my May stamp class using the Fresh Fruit stamp set and Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper and just love their fresh, happy appearance.

Fresh Florals

Image
This card shows off one of our new In Colors, Berry Burst, using the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. Just love having these designs in all the new colors! Such a great stamp set, too, although I chose to use the Watercolor Wings set for this card. I cut my dsp the same size as my Whisper White - 4" x 5-1/4". Then I cut into the middle and folded back the edges, holding them in place with a single dimensional behind each flap. The butterfly is attached with dimensionals beneath body only. The Rhinestone Basic Jewels are left over from our previous annual catalog; I used the connected string of rhinestones. Products Used: Watercolor Wings photopolymer stamp set (15), 139424, $26.00 Whisper White 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (40), 100730, $9.00 Berry Burst 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (24), 144242, $8.00 Fresh Florals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper Stack (40), 144131, $22.00 Berry Burst Classic Stampin' Pad, 144083, $6.50 Ros

Floral Boutique Suite

Image
One of my favorite suites in the 2016-2017 catalog was the Floral Boutique Suite, so I was excited to discover the Fresh Florals Suite in the new catalog! The same stamp set (Floral Phrases) and Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. And the paper stack contains four of the designs from last year's Night of Navy and Whisper White Floral Boutique dsp but in all the new In Colors. Fabulous! Plus the 40 sheets are now packs of unbound, individual 12" x 12" sheets. So I don't feel badly posting cards made with the old dsp because you can duplicate them in our fresh new colors. Love, love, love it! Of course, I still need to use up the remaining dsp. That said, I am showing two of the cards with the old dsp below. And this design is one that is carried over. Products Used: Floral Phrases rubber stamp set (7), W 141764, $25; C 141767, $18 Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, retired Bloomin' Love photopolymer stamp set (16), 140643, $17 Night of Navy

Delightful Daisy Suite

Image
The new catalog goes live this afternoon! Ronda Wade posted a card very similar to this one, which was the deciding factor in my purchase of the Delightful Daisy stamp set, paper and punch. In fact, so many demonstrators fell in love with this suite during our pre-order period that the punch is already on back order! I did use up a couple retired products on this card - the ribbons and the jewel. I've always had a hard time using the wide chevron ribbon and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to use some of it. There are so many fun products in the new catalog. Can't wait to find time to play with more of them! Since we are just back from a vacation in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, I'm running behind. I even have a stack of cards waiting to be scanned and posted, many using retired items. But I'm sure you can get ideas even from those.
