There's Snow Place Like Home

Image
While designing a class using the Snow Place stamp set and coordinating Snow Friends Framelits Dies (available as a bundle), I decided I needed an igloo for "there's snow place like home". I had so much fun coming up with a way to "build" my igloo! I merely used the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I combined the Hardwood background die and the Washi Label punch to make a sign to hang over the entrance. And of course the penguin had to be the proud owner of such a home. It's a Real Cut-up!

Once again, I did a lot of fussy cutting on a card. Took a lot of time to make the two cards I made Saturday afternoon. I like the looks of cut edges, but it does take time and patience. I debated putting the So Saffron behind the Pear Pizzazz leaves or leaving it open. Obviously I decided to add the contrast. I originally planned to place the Stamped So Saffron piece in the bottom left corner, but decided it needed something more. I played around with a doily and then cut it apart to fit it above and below the stamped piece. After mounting that, I decided it still needed something more and so I added the cut-out leaves and the bow (that ribbon is actually some Certainly Celery ribbon that has been kicking around in my room for some time, but I always thought Certainly Celery and Pear Pizzazz were very similar). Although it doesn't show up very well, I played around with another technique on this card. I inked my cala lilies with VersaMark and then Early Espresso before s

Ninety-Seven!

Imagine being both mentally sharp and physically spry at 97! I recently saw a picture of just such a woman on facebook. Her daughter was requesting cards be sent to her to celebrate attaining that age. So this is what I came up with: The striped designer series paper is from the neutrals pack. Using some Blendabilities, I merely colored in the white stripes with the two colors I planned to use for the flower: Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi. I chose the darkest shades of those colors, using the pink to color a strip of Whisper White satin ribbon, a width we no longer carry. However, we do carry the Pink Pirouette in Seam Binding Ribbon. I just love the Remarkable You stamp set! Granted, for this card I chose to do a lot of fancy cutting with my Paper Snips (they are such great little scissors for cutting details). I also cut out the numbers. I fear that set (Memorable Moments) is also discontinued. Such a versatile set!

Let it Snow!

Really? Well, no, I'm not ready for it to snow yet, but I do love snowmen—artistically anyway. So when I spotted the "Snow Place" stamp set in the new holiday catalog, I just had to get it. Plus, it's a bundle with Framelits to cut out all the details. I'm featuring the snowmen here, but I can't wait to play around with the penguin, too. The snow drifts on this card are simply torn strips of Whisper White cardstock. I lightly sponged the ragged edges with Soft Sky to create the shadows and make the edges stand out. Anniversary Cards

I am so excited to have a stamp set with a larger font for anniversary cards! And I love the floral design, too. I had fun playing with this, but I think there are many other possibilities for the future. The embossing folder is the only discontinued item on this card. My black ink of choice for this card was StazOn because I used my blender pens to color in the flowers. After using my embossing folder and putting the card together, I decided to daub a little Melon Mambo ink on it to make the design stand out. Praying for You Card

Here is another large card made from leftover Sale-a-Bration designer Series paper and the discontinued In Colors. I really miss Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe! When I make these cards to collect notes from our class, I simply fold one full 8½" x 11" sheet of cardstock in half and decorate the front.
