Easter Favors

I so enjoy making favors for our Easter table.Today is the last day of Sale-a-Bration and therefore the last day to order the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, which contains the Calypso Coral ribbon I used on these favors. The window sheets I used here are leftover from a pack of Specialty Designer Paper that is now retired, but you can stamp on our clear window sheets with Staz-on ink, or leave them clear.
The one below is for the men in the family - two sons-in-law, one brother-in-law and two grandsons.
The favor for the ladies is the same as the one we made in my last stamp class. The triangular piece is simply a 4¼" x 5" piece of card stock (you can get four out of one sheet of card stock) scored at 1¼", 2½" and 3¾" from one 5" side to the other. Do any stamping you wish to do and then punch an opening and insert a window sheet. Run a strip of snail adhesive along inside of back fold and attach candy Kisses. After completing your triangle, add ribbon and adhere to a base (1½" x 4½"). So easy.

Irresistibly Easter

I just love the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (Sale-a-Bration catalog)! Coupled with my favorite green, Pistachio Pudding, I created a perfect Easter card. I used the same design as a sympathy card. The colors just make me think "Spring"! And with snow falling on our snow-covered landscape, that thought is very inviting, to say the least.

I haven't used the heavy baker's twine much, but now I'm learning how great it can be. And it's very economical! The Petite Petals flowers are attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. I've seen some of the other dimensionals and, I have to admit, ours are definitely the best. Those by other companies are too thick and too small. Plus we have a border on our sheet of dimensionals, which works nicely on those skinny pieces I want to raise up.

By the way, I used my brayer and ink pad to give color to this dsp.

More Butterflies

When working with the Butterfly Thinlit, I decided I would prefer more contrast between the butterfly and the rest of the card. I also decided to try some designer series paper behind the butterfly. Of course, that meant I had to reverse images to use.
I so love the Blackberry Bliss color and the coordinating Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper in the Occasions Catalog seemed the perfect choice to use with the butterfly. This one uses a Whisper White background to contrast with the Blackberry Bliss. I chose to use ribbon and add a salutation here. I seem to go through periods when I really need those sympathy cards.
The bow on the card below is made with the new Bow Builder Punch. I may add a greeting to this one as well when I decide what I need it for—unless I merely use it as a note card.

Monarch Butterfly

I have a customer who expressed the desire to use the Butterfly thinlet to make a Monarch butterfly, so I designed such a card for my March class. At first I feared the orange and black would look too much like Halloween, but decided to go for it anyway. I've even used this card as a masculine birthday card because I think the greeting is perfect for celebrating the fact of a person's being, which is really what we do when celebrating birthdays.

The way I accomplished this butterfly with the orange behind it was to cut the butterfly from the 4" x 5¼" piece of Basic Black card stock, embossed that piece and then attached a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock behind the butterfly-shaped opening. Finally, I reattached the butterfly with glue dots behind its body. I added the tiny pearl because I didn't think the head showed up that much. I finished off the card with the ribbon and saying.

Bright and Beautiful

When Stampin' Up! came out with the Bright & Beautiful stamp set for the holidays, I saw its potential for more than just Christmas. So recently I decided to play with it a bit. I found the best way to attach the star-shaped sequins was to put a dab of glue from the 2-way glue pen on the card stock and then add the sequin. I think I could use this card for a number of things, including a graduation, a promotion, a new job, retirement or even a birthday.

Loving That Lotus Blossom

I think the Lotus Blossom stamp set is one of those enduring sets, one of those sets I'll never be able to part with and will use again and again. Too bad I can't use it for demonstrating, since it will no longer be available once our Sale-a-Bration catalog expires the end of this month.

I'm showing two variations of essentially the same card, one of which we made at my February class. And I'm still using that great Crisp Cantaloupe color that is an outgoing in color (with us until June). For the lightest shade on this flower, I stamped off once before stamping on my card item.

I chose the Party Pennants Bigz L die for this card because it seemed to coordinate in shape with the design on this sheet of Lullaby dsp. Admittedly, the ruffled ribbon was in last year's book. The large brad and the textured embossing folder on the lower card are also discontinued. I am so not looking forward to losing these in colors!

Painted Petals and Blooms

I have always struggled with how to use the bolder designer prints, but when I received the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper, I just couldn't resist playing with it.  The coordinating stamp set really made a difference. I think this is one of my favorite cards of those we made at my February stamping class. Admittedly, I didn't realize when I first designed the card that the Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon is amongst my retired items, but you could always use the Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon, although it's slightly narrower, or the Wild Wasabi Seam Binding Ribbon. I really liked having the photopolymer stamps for this set because it made it so easy to line up the various components on this piece. To round the corners on the stamped piece, I used the Envelope Punch Board.

Butterfly Thinlits and Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper

I just had to play around with the new Butterfly Thinlits in the Occasions Catalog. I paired it with the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper, using sponge daubers to create the color pattern. [A tissue works very well to remove surplus ink from the ink-resistant design on the dsp.]  I unintentionally featured our departing in colors in my February class and the Strawberry Slush on this card is just one of them, along with the Baked Brown Sugar. Since my class attendees are pretty regular, I decided I would also use up some of my retired products in this class, such as the ribbons and the clear button on this card.

Trick: a piece of waxed paper between your card stock and the thinlit die makes it much easier to remove the card stock and punch the holes. I've noticed that some people run the thinlit sandwich back and forth through the Big Shot several times, although I didn't find that necessary.

Sheltered Tree in Bloom

I am so in love with the Sheltered Tree stamp set! Its versatility is amazing. I've made winter cards with snowflakes and now spring cards in bloom. This card is one we made at my February card class. I just love the way it turned out!

You'll see I used a lot of Crisp Cantaloupe on this card and I'm already grieving the soon departure of that group of in colors! Especially since it took me so long to see how beautifully Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral complement each other!
