New Colors, New Sets

I love the new In Colors and the new hostess stamp sets! This card features the Bloom with Hope stamp set, available only for those who host a workshop or place an order of at least $150. Only the Baked Brown Sugar embossed wood background is not one of our new colors. I think the Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss are my favorite colors, but I know how I tend to change depending on the mood or the stamp sets I'm currently working with. This card is an anniversary card because I have a number of them coming up this summer.

Since I stamped the Blackberry Bliss card stock with Basic Black ink, I decided to use my gel pen to brighten up the center of the center flower. The ribbon is our new Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin ribbon which I looped around to resemble leaves. Notice how well the Crushed Curry Candy dots look in the centers of my Hello Honey flowers.

Playing with Photopolymer

I had no idea how I would feel about our photopolymer stamps. So I determined to order at least one set in this new medium so I could get a feel for them. They are so sticky they adhere well to the acrylic blocks. Being able to see through them for placement is a plus. I ordered the Bordering Blooms stamp set and got to work. My first thought was that I could make the flowers look like they were growing out of the leafy border, but the result was more like two different borders. The one I chose to do for my stamp class was much easier. And I love the Lost Lagoon and Chocolate Chip color combination. Truth be told, I was also trying to work in the new In Colors as I designed my cards. And the new Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder complements the stamp images so well!

Kind Koala

When I spotted the Kind Koala stamp in the new catalog, I couldn't help but smile. So I bought it and set about designing a card with it. I found it a perfect card to make in my June class to contrast the coloring with Blender Pens and the new Stampin' Blendabilities. I matched the stamp with a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper and even found a way to use the new Hearts Border punch. I love the sweetness of this card.

Traveling by Ship

I was playing around with watercolor paper when I created this card. I was also experimenting with the Memento ink pad. Yes, it will smear when wet, so I had to be careful as I painted the water and sky around the ship.  When trying to decide what embossing folder would coordinate with a ship, I decided the Chevron would be most like waves. Then I was searching for a font that I thought fit the mood of this card. I decided on the center of the birthday stamp from the now retired Delightful Dozen set. I used my Basic Black Stampin' Marker to ink up only the two words on the stamp that I wanted to use. If you look closely, you'll notice I added a splash of Daffodil Delight for a little bit of sun. I used retired Basic Black grosgrain ribbon, but you could always substitute a strip of Basic Black card stock. What a great masculine card!

Collage, Anyone?

Masculine cards are often hard to come by. So when I spotted the Traveler stamp set, I knew it would be great for masculine cards as well as for collage designs. Here are two cards made in two different directions with different colors for different effects.

The first card features Blackberry Bliss with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, while the second one uses Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Hello Honey.  Fastening the Washi Tape on the yellow strip added the little something extra this card needed. I chose to feature the camera because of its size (wouldn't cover up much of the collage) and because birthdays are about memories.

More Stampin' Blendabilities

Here is a fairly simple card using our great Stampin' Blendabilities and one background stamp. Those at my class get to choose the color for their flowers. I actually used the Skin Tone Assortment for the flower center, although the bloom itself is in shades of Pumpkin Pie. I even used the Color Lifter to throw in a few highlights, most noticeably in the center of the flower. Note: I cut out the flower with my paper snips.

Colorful Corner Garden

A very dear friend just turned 60, so I had to make a special card just for her. I have to admit, it took me a long time to complete this card  due to all the coloring. But I just had to play some more with my new Blendabilities! I worked in quite a few colors for these colors. Then I grabbed the Memorable Moments stamp set so I could make a big deal of her age! And, of course, I used a ton of Stampin' Dimensionals to make this card pop. This is the first catalog where background stamps have been available in clear mount as well as the wood mount.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our new Blandabilities Markers, they come in packs of three, providing you with three shades of one of our colors (except the Skin Tone Assortment, which includes six markers). Check out page 166 in the new catalog for a few pointers on coloring with these amazing alcohol markers! When you're finished coloring, use the Color Lifter to remove a little color for some highlights.

Blending the Old and New

A little old designer series paper from the Regals paper stack, a stamp from the recent mini catalog (now expired), and those fantastic new Blendabilities Markers! Using the Memento Pad for the People Like You stamp, I then colored the image with Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight assorted Blendabilities Markers. I'm waiting for my Color Lifter to arrive so I can add a few highlights, but I still love the shaded effect these markers accomplish.

Venetian Sympathy

I am still in love with Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper and have plenty left over for many more designs. Since I'm always in need of sympathy cards, I decided to incorporate my dsp in this card.  Mixing the Tangerine Tango and Soft Suede of the dsp, I added leaves cut with the Secret Garden framelits and stamped the greeting from a new hostess set with Soft Suede ink. The flowers are from the Flower Trim we used to sell.

Timeless Talk

I am so glad Timeless Talk stamp set is still in our catalog! I've used it in so many ways. Of course, I'm still using up some of that great Venetian Romance designer series paper! I also came across some of the old confetti card stock, which I used for this card, along with the current Island Indigo. Alas and alack, the Script embossing folder is not in the current catalog, either. Sigh! Note: I used the Small Scallop rotary cutting blade on the card stock used for my focal point.
