Sweet Shop Stickers & DSP

Image
When one of the ladies at my Mini Occasions Catalog class said she only uses stickers for catalogs, I immediately took up the challenge and designed some cards using the Sweet Shop Stickers. Today is the last day you can order these because the catalog expires today. Because these stickers are rather transparent, I adhered them all to Whisper White card stock. The ice cream cone above was then cut out and adhered to a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock. The thin ribbon is leftover from the Sale-a-Bration catalog and no longer available for purchase. Even the "Happy Birthday" stamp on this card is part of the Sweet Shop product suite, as is the specialty designer series paper. The doily on the card below is cut from one of the sheets of Flirtatious specialty designer series paper with a circle of Whisper White on top of it. Products Used: Sweet Cake stamp set (4), W 125490, $18.95; C 125492, $14.95 Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set (11), Hostess Dollars Sweet Shop designer s

Designer Fabric Pillowcases

Image
I whipped up these two pillowcases for my granddaughter's pillow, aka a travel pillow using Twitterpated Designer Fabric from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Those fat quarters are perfect for pillowcases! I cut the semi-solid fabric in half to sew to the bottom of the other full fat quarters. The fabric is good quality and the cut edges are perfectly straight, making it so easy. The fat quarter that I cut in half was then folded in half and sewn to the bottom of another quarter. I then folded the fabric over the seam allowances and stitched "in the ditch", forming a small pleat which was held upward by the side seam. Don't forget: tomorrow is the last day to order from the Occasions Mini Catalog!

Mixed Bunch

The final card from my class featuring products from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The last day to order from this card is Monday, so don't miss out on those fantastic items. Oh, it's hard to see, but there is a tiny pearl in the middle of the flower. Products Used: Mixed Bunch stamp set (6), W 125535, $27.95; C 125537, $21.95 Sincere Salutations stamp set (8), Wood Mount only, 115068, $23.95 (retiring June 1) Blossom Punch, 125603, $16.95 Decorative Label Punch, 120907, $16.95 Twitterpated 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730 Riding Hood Red 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 111348, $6.95 Riding Hood Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 111836, $5.95 Riding Hood Red 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon (5 yards), 125569, $6.95 Basic Pearls (150), 119247, $4.95

Small Changes Make a Big Difference

Image
I'm really grieving over the expiration of the Occasions Mini Catalog! Here are two more cards using the Sweet Cake stamp set and the Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper. Notice how these two are made with essentially the same design yet they look so different. Just different background papers and different methods of stamping resulting in a different color scheme. For the above card, I colored the stamp with Soft Suede, Pool Party and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers to get the variety of colors. Both cards have the stamped image cut out and mounted over ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. Did you notice my mistake on this card? I had actually put the whole card together and then realized I had everything upside down, making it necessary to open the card from the top rather than the bottom. But I was able to peel off the focal image because the adhesive on the Stampin' Dimensionals allows me to do so if I don't wait too long. Hence, the upside down heart

A Cup of Thanks

Image
I've had so much fun designing the cards for my class featuring products from the Occasions Mini Catalog! In fact, I've designed more than I can use. I find myself hoping that the Tea Shoppe stamp set will somehow make it into the core catalog. I will never give this set up! Products Used: Tea Shoppe stamp set (10), W 125545, $34.95; C 125547, $27.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Twitterpated 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Flirtatious 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), 122360, $12.95 Rose Red Classic Stampin' Pad, 101778, $5.95 Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, 101179, $5.95 5/8" Organza Ribbon, Whisiper White (15 yards), 114319, $5.95 Paper Snips, 103579, $9.95

Elegant Bird Thank You

Image
I was asked to make a large thank you card to be signed by a group of people at our Community Bible Study. This is one of the two I designed. Blake chose this because she thought of the bird as representative of the Holy Spirit. I used one full sheet of Very Vanilla card stock folded in half. As you can see, I used the Big Shot for the bulk of the card. Why was it I didn't think I wanted a Big Shot? lol The striped background and the paper for the bird's wing is from the pack of Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper, one of the Sale-A-Bration offerings that is no longer available.  I really like that paper and will continue to use it for personal items even if I can't use it for demonstrating. To antique my solid card stocks, I sponged on a little Soft Suede classic ink so it would coordiate better with the dsp.  Products Used: Perfectly Penned stamp set, W 122890, $16.95; C 122892, $12.95 Very Vanilla 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 101650, $8.50 Ev

Faith in Nature with Pizzazz

Image
As I need cards, I find myself striving to use products that will soon be unavailable for purchase. The stamp and the Pear Pizzazz card stock as well as the ribbon on this card will all retire May 31st. I think this card will work for men as well as for women. The stamp set is a hostess set, one of the first products I ordered when this catalog came out last July. I have to admit that I have so many stamp sets that there are many I don't use that often. I wish I'd used this one more. I stamped the leaf image with Early Espresso Classic Ink but used a blender pen to add the Pear Pizzazz. The Early Espresso will smear a little, so I was careful to ink up my pen frequently and add the color mostly where there was no Early Espresso Ink. Then I went back and filled in a little more, allowing the brown to run into the green a little bit. Products Used: Faith in Nature stamp set (5), W 122490, $11 Hostess; C 122492, $8 Hostess Sweet Cake stamp set (4), W 125490, $18.95; C 125492 $14.9

You are Simply Wonderful

Image
I have to say of the Occasions Mini Catalog, "You are simply wonderful"! This is another card made from items in that catalog, which is expiring the end of this month. I have to admit I copied Gloria Plunkett's design for this one (hers used Pink Pirouette instead of the Peach Parfait). It was too pretty not to. And its use of items from the mini catalog make it perfect for my upcoming class. By the way, Peach Parfait is one of the retiring In Colors and will not be available after May 31st. Oh, I scanned this card before adding three tiny pearls to the flower centers. Products Used: Bordering on Romance stamp set (5), W 125480, $27.95; C 125482, $21.95 Friendly Phrases stamp set (6), W 126149, $18.95; C 126151, $14.95 Peach Parfait 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119794, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11"card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Jet Black StazOn ink pad, 101406, $7.95 Peach Parfait Classic Stampin' Pad, 119783, $5.95 Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin'

Faux Pinwheel

Image
Attendees at my upcoming class April 25th will learn how to make this faux pinwheel. I am grateful to Dawn Olchefske for her careful instructions and her card design, which I altered ever so slightly! The class features products from that soon-to-expire but incredibly wonderful Occasions Mini Catalog. Products Used: Sweet Cake stamp set (4), W 125490, $18.95; C 125492, $14.95 Sweet Shop 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), $12.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 Calypso Coral 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122925, $6.95 Island Indigo 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122923, $6.95 Calypso CoralClassic Stampin' Pad, 122939, $5.95 Designer Printed Brads (40), 122940, $7.95 ½" Circle Punch, 119869, $5.95 Modern Label Punch, 119849, $16.95 Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (3), 125601, $8.95

DSP Behind the Punch

Image
I'm putting together a class using products from the soon-to-expire Occasions Mini Catalog and this is one of the cards I designed using designer series paper behind a punched out blossom. I've seen numerous cards created this way and have finally gotten around to trying it. I think a heart cut-out would be nice for an anniversary card. Anyway, this card features some of the items from the Twitterpated Product Suite. Products Used: Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (24), W 115370, $36.95 Blushing Bride 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 119796, $6.95 Basic Gray 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 121044, $6.95 Twitterpated 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (12), 125406, $10.95 Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad, 109120, $5.95 Riding Hood Red 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon (5 yards), 125569, $6.95 Twitterpated Designer Buttons (48), 125579, $6.95 Blossom Punch, 125603, $16.95 Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, 122464, $23.95 Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Emboss

You're How Old?

Image
Easter and my husband's birthday have both been celebrated. My son has returned to Cedarville OH after a week's visit. And the income taxes have been e-filed. Phew! This card is the one I made for my husband's birthday, which fell on Easter this year. Picking up the colors in the Just Eat Cake Designer Series Paper, I used Stampin' Write Markers to color the greeting from the Delightful Dozen stamp set and used that as the focal point on my card. I'm so glad that stamp set didn't make the list of sets being discontinued in the new catalog, which comes out June 1st. Those colors were Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi and So Saffron. The Peach Parfait Stampin' Write Marker is only available in the set containing five 2010-2012 In Colors; The others can be purchased as part of a set of Subtles or they can be purchased individually. I have to admit that I am trying to use as much of the dsp from this year's catalog as possible because I always have so

More Easter Wisteria

Image
A super simple card, still using Wisteria Wonder card stock and Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper. The doily is part of the dsp package, two sheets of laser-cut double-sided doilies. I merely cut the doilies apart and use on my card. This one uses one of the designs from the package plus a doily fastened with a Wisteria Wonder Designer Printed Brad. A little bow from Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine below the stamped Easter Dove finishes off the card. I sent this card to my niece with the same Bible verses of comfort I used in my nephews' cards and omitted the "Happy Easter" greeting from all of theirs since this holiday falls so close to the loss of their mother. Products Used: Easter Dove stamp, 125455, $6.95 Wisteria Wonder 8½" x 11" card stock, 122926 $6.95 Flirtatious 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), 122360, $12.95 Concord Crush Classic Stampin' Pad, 119785, $5.95 Designer Printed Brads, 122940, $7.95 Wisteria Wonder

Easter Dove

Image
He is risen! Easter! Wonder Wisteria and Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper team up to make this card. I love this paper but have not used it anywhere near enough. And now there are only two months left to purchase it. The Easter Dove Stamp is only available through the Occasions Mini Catalog through April 30th. For this card, I colored the stamp with the Melon Mambo, Wonder Wisteria and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers. Products Used: Easter Dove stamp (1), 125455, $6.95 Delightful Dozen stamp set (12), W 126650, $32.95; C 122652, $24.95 Flirtatious 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (12), 122360, $12.95 Wonder Wisteria 8½" x 11" card stock (24), 122922, $6.95 Whisper White 8½" x 11" card stock (40), 100730, $8.50 2011-13 In Color Assortment of Stampin' Write Markers, 123002, $14.95 Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker, 121074, $3.50 Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker, 120975, $3.50 Wonder Wisteria Classic Stampin' Pad, 1

Easter Cards Without all the Flowers!

Image
My two nephews and a niece lost their mother (my sister) last week. I want to encourage them with a few verses and cards for their first holiday without their mom. I decided I needed to make cards for the boys that were not excessively flowery but could still be Eastery. Surprisingly, I chose the Just Add Cake designer series paper and really like the result. Both cards have a Whisper White base. The card below includes retired designer ribbon that I had laying around. I think it added just the right touch. Inside the cards, I want to include a couple Bible verses that will remind them that they have the hope of seeing their Mom again in eternity: "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man" (1 Corinthians 15:20-21, NIV). "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth in

Sympathy from a Friend

Image
Isn't this a lovely card? Many thanks to Patty Braun, fellow demonstrator and designer who sent it to me when she heard of my sister's death. Lyn lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday morning; her memorial service was yesterday afternoon. It was a great service and a great time with family and friends but left me washed out and exhausted. This card uses three layers of Very Vanilla card stock: the base card, the dry embossed layer (Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder), and the stamped layer. The stamp sets included Field Flowers, Hello Doily and Thoughts & Prayers. I'm not sure which green she used, although I'm guessing it's Lucky Limeade. The other classic ink is Early Espresso.
