Christmas in July

Preparing for my Christmas in July class, I designed these two cards. We probably won't do both of them since they provide the same technique. I just had to use the new Core'dinations Card Stock in the Holiday Catalog. I did find that I have to be very careful with the textured piece because it tends to tear easily—at least with the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder.

This first card was made with the Christmas Lodge stamp set in the core catalog.
This second card features the Evergreen stamp set from the Holiday Catalog, although it would look great with the tree in the Christmas Lodge set, as well. I added tags to the bow using "merry" from the Tiny Tags stamp set, but you could convert this card to a masculine birthday card.
By the way, my card classes are almost always $15 for 5 cards and one 3-D item. This class, July 26th, will include an ornament.

You Mean Everything to Me

As much as I prefer scanning my cards over photographing them, I find there are some disadvantages. My little banner that is stamped with "you mean everything to me" loses the 3D look as it gets flattened by the cover of the scanner. Kyla and I were just playing around with ideas while she was visiting (did I mention, she's my new recruit?) and this was one of the cards I designed. Gathering the ribbon slightly, cutting out the heart image and folding and trimming the "banner" across the heart meant a little extra fussing, but I really like the result. When I was all finished with the card, I decided to add a little sparkle by spraying it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. If you look closely, you can see some of the sparkle that added to the card, including the ribbon. When you actually hold it in your hands, you can see the glittery shimmer much more easily. More Quilt Cards

The Christmas Quilt bundle has so much versatility! I'm still using the Blooms & Bliss designer paper from last year's catalog as I design these cards. Today's post uses different designs from the pack from Saturday's post. Once again you can see the variety acquired using the same papers. The greetings on both these cards, as on so many others, come from the Best Birds stamp set. Easter Daffodils

"You're Inspiring" stamp set is perfect for Easter or Mother's Day or sympathy or almost any occasion. With Easter approaching, that holiday was the obvious choice. This card uses two Sale-a-Bration items as well as the "You're Inspiring" stamp set from the Occasions Catalog: the Basket Weave embossing folder and the Springtime Foils Specialty dsp. And of course I used the Stampin' Blends! I'm wondering if I'll ever use my markers, now that I have experienced the 3D effects of our blends that also allow me to color with no streaks. Unless you have the Springtime Foils dsp, you may not realize that the leaves on this sheet are not green.  You can color this glossy paper with metallic designs using your Stampin' Blends, which is what I did here.
