Cherish the New!

I've been playing with some of my new stamp sets. I made two cards with this image, but my scanner won't work on the other card and my camera's batteries are dead, so I'm going ahead and posting this card. The other card included watercolors, but I really wanted to see how a card would look without any extra color. It took time to water color and sometimes I don't have time for that. Since I haven't used Perfect Plum in a while and since I have struggled to use River Rock, I decided to try them together—and I love them!

I've had the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, along with the coordinating punches, for a while, but only recently purchased the clear buttons in the same shapes. So I stamped one of the flower images twice and the butterfly image once, then punched them out and adhered them to the card with my 2-way glue pen. I then matched the buttons to the shapes and added them with glue dots. There's even room for a Teeny Tiny Wish, should I decide I want one.

Time is Flying!

Time is flying by so quickly! And one of my favorite stamp sets is available only through Thursday, June 30th. I've always thought the Sense of Time stamp set was my masculine set, a set that needed to be made very vintage in looks. However, I couldn't help but play with it and make it feminine by using pinks. These cards are made with Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette. Notice that the background of the first card is Teahouse stamp. I left it very subtle by stamping with Pink Pirouette classic ink on Pink Pirouette cardstock. The flower is punched with the Boho Blossoms Punch, layered and topped off with a pearl (Basic Pearls).I used Baroque Motifs for the background on this card. That set remains in the new catalog.

Check out my older posts for the masculine versions of this stamp set (March 2011, June 2010).

Sea Bound

My next door neighbors' son is off on a new adventure with a job aboard a cruise ship. I just had to make him a farewell/good luck card with The Open Sea stamp set and coordinating Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper. Not Quite Navy is the only color ink I used. I am sorry to see the Jumbo Eyelets go (retiring accessories), because they so fit the nautical theme--don't they make you think of port holes? Since the dsp and stamp set come from the Summer Mini Catalog, they are only available through August 31st.

Father's Day

I tried a couple different things with this card. I began with the Best Dad Ever stamp set, coloring the ties with Stampin' Write markers, beginning with Night of Navy, Wild Wasabi, More Mustard, Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler. Once they were stamped on the Very Vanilla card stock, I layered it on Wild Wasabi card stock and added the buttons (Night of Navy, More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler). I then staggered squares of cardstock in the coordinating colors below that thinking they looked like ties on display. The background paper is Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper sponged wiht Marina Mist ink. The paper looks white, but the designs come through when you add ink, whether smooching or sponging or braying. This paper will not be available after June 30 unless there is enough to put on the clearance rack on-line.Products Used:

More Beyond the Garden

I just can't leave pieces of designer paper laying around! So, while continuing to clean up, I made two more cards using Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper. These two are fairly simple, using punches and one stamped image, although the second card also has a stamped greeting. I'm not sure, but I think these might be my two favorite prints in the pack. But they are all so nice that it's hard to say for sure. Moods sometimes affect my choice of favorites.

Just Fabulous!

When the Summer Mini Catalog arrived, there were many must-haves! The Fabulous Florets stamp set for one. Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper for another. The Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for yet another. And all are carried over into the new catalog for 2011-2012! I'm thrilled.

I designed these cards to showcase the designer paper, but used the stamp set and embossing folders as well.

Hodgepodge Happiness

The Hodgepodge Happiness stamp set is featured on these cards, a set that was designed to coordinate with Hodgepodge Hardware. Neither the stamp set nor the hardware will be available after June 30. Also being discontinued is the Designer Label punch used on the Heartfelt Thanks card below. Items punched fit perfectly behind the coordinating piece of hardware.

More Playful Polka Dots

Here are some more cards made with the leftovers from my half of the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit from the Summer Mini Catalog, the same kit we're using for the stamp class on June 27th. This first card has pearls on it, but they look like brads.

The stamp sets I've used on these cards are Fabulous Phrases and Apple Blossoms (level 2 hostess set).

Using Leftover Playful Polka Dots

In my last post, I shared information about my upcoming class using the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit available in the Summer Mini Catalog. Each attendee receives half a kit plus a sheet of Basic Rhinestones plus other miscellaneous essentials for the eight cards we will make during the evening. However, there will be lots of leftover items from that half kit for personal use, either in more cards or for scrapbooking. I've made seven additional cards so far and still have two whole sheets and one partial sheet of designer series paper left as well as a number of stickers. The cards I'm showing today have been made with the leftovers.

When I first received my Blossom Petals Punch, I wondered if I could make a tulip with it. Well, two of the stickers in the half kit are the same shape, although slightly smaller, as the blossom. So I merely punched out another blossom petal and added the printed sticker petals to form the tulip gracing the front of the card below:

The stamp sets I used for these cards are Fabulous Phrases and Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I'll post more cards made with the leftover items in the kit tomorrow.

June 2011 Card Kit of the Month

3-D Flower

A stamping friend gave me the instructions for this ruffly flower. So simple, but it does take a little time.

Merely punch eight large scallop circles from card stock or dsp. I used So Saffron designer series paper (retired, but similar paper contained in the Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack). Ink up the edges. Spread pieces out on a waterproof surface and spritz with water until damp. Then wad each one up in a tight ball; gently open the wads and let them dry. Stack them and insert a brad in the center. You can use a small brad for a carnation effect or you can use a Jumbo Brad, like I did. Note: I stamped the brad using Staz-On ink. Once the brad is inserted, fluff up the layers until you get the effect you want. Make sure the flower is completely dry before adhering to your card. Or put a clasp on the back to wear it as a pin.

Here is a side view. You will probably want to ship this card in a dvd case or a padded envelope. Or hand deliver it.
