Floral Christmas

The stamp set, "A Flower for All Seasons" includes four different flower containers, one of which I had used in an Easter card. So, when I set out to design cards for my holiday card class, I decided I needed to use the potted pointsettia plant.

Real Red, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla card stocks comprise this card. You can see the dry embossing on the background piece of Real Red which was accomplished with the Big Shot and the Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The image was stamped in Black, originally Black Staz-on, but we used the Black Classic Stampin' Pad for the class and it worked just fine. We added color using Blender Pens and three ink pads: Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.

I also decided to use the Word Window Punch the way it was originally intended, although I've almost never used it that way. We punched the hole in the Real Red embossed card stock then laid it over the "Merry Christmas", which was stamped with Old Olive Classic Ink. Tying a knot in the Real Red 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon added dimension and class to the card. And I love the way a knot in ribbon almost looks like a bow!

Decorative Decorations

When designing cards for my Holiday Card Class, I wanted a card with designer series paper and the Magnetic Movers and Shapers die. This is the result:

Using my Anywhere Glue Stick, I adhered a piece of Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper to the front of my Old Olive Card Stock before running it through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. The designer paper had to line up with the 5-1/2 inch mark. I then laid that sheet on the die with the designer paper face down. The punched-out piece decorates the plain portion of the card.

The "Joy" ornament from the Definitely Decorative stamp set was stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock with coordinating Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and punched it out with the Ornament punch. The punch is just enough smaller than the opening cut with the die that it pops up nicely when mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals. I used the greeting and verse from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set. To finish the card off, I tied a simple knot with Chantilly Crochet Trim through the opening made with the ornament die.

Supplies:
Definitely Decorative Stamp Set, 116517, $21.95

Cardinal Christmas

I had some pre-cuts left over from my summer workshops and decided to make one set into a Christmas card using only "A Cardinal Christmas" stamp set.

For this card, I colored the stamps themselves with markers, using Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. The cardinal was mostly colored in Basic Black before stamping. I then added the color with Cherry Cobbler and More Mustard Stampin' Write Markers. After coloring the holly branch stamp with the markers, I cut it out and added it to the card extending beyond the Very Vanilla card stock. The vivid embellishment enhanced the bold coloring of the cardinal.

Using the Vintage Wallpaper Textured ImpressionsEmbossing Folder adds a touch of elegance to this card, as does the Modern Label punch (if you've been following my blog, you've probably noticed how much I've come to love this particular punch).

Supplies:
A Cardinal Christmas, 111760, $23.95
Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 120175, $7.95

More Autumn Splendor

I'm beginning to think Fall is my favorite time of the year because cards for this season are so spectacular. Too bad the season is so short.

The leaves (Autumn Splendor stamp set) are falling on the background of this card. You can just see them almost as a texture in the background because I stamped them in Peach Parfait on Peach Parfait card stock. Then I wrapped the Pear Pizzazz Stitched-Poly Ribbon around the card, tying it in a knot on one side of the card. I then stamped the oak leaf from the same stamp set in Chocolate Chip classic ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I used the Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz markers to add the fall colors.

"Happy Thanksgiving" (Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set) was also stamped in Chocolate Chip classic ink on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and then punched out with the Word Window punch. I then mounted that on the Modern Label punched from Pear Pizzazz card stock. That bit of color pulls in the coordinating ribbon. Chocolate Chip card stock frames the image and adds depth. Stampin' Dimensionals behind the layers keep the image from buckling due to the thickness of the ribbon.

Supplies:
Autumn Splendor Stamp Set, 116503, $20.95
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, 115370, $36.95
Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon, 119265, $8.95
Peach Parfait Card Stock, 119794, $6.95 for 24 sheets 8-1/2" x 11"
Pear Pizzazz Card Stock, 119795, $6.95 for 24 sheets 8-1/2" x 11"
Very Vanilla Card Stock, 101650, $8.50 for 40 sheets 8-1/2" x 11"
Chocolate Chip Card Stock, 102128, $6.95 for 24 sheets 8-1/2" x 11"
Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin' Pad, 100908, $5.95
In Color Stampin' Write Markers (all five In Colors), 119801, $14.95

Autumn Leaves

I had planned to use this card for my holiday card class as the second Thanksgiving card, but decided I don't need two time-consuming cards in the same class! Although simple, cutting out all the leaves does take extra time and we're going to make six cards in one evening. So I converted it to a birthday card for my personal use.

The card is made with Crumb Cake card stock and Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper. Once again I used the Top Note Bigz Die for the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. I stamped the leaves from the Autumn Splendor stamp set on scraps of card stock scraps using Chocolate Chip classic ink. After cutting out each leaf with my paper snips, I applied just one strip of snail adhesive down the center of the Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler leaves. That leaves them free to stick out just a little. However, I did use Stampin' Dimensionals behind the Cajun Craze leaf. "Birthday Wishes" comes from the Watercolor Trio stamp set sold in the expired Summer Mini Catalog. I love the font on those greetings and continue to use the set.

Once again, Stampin' Up! makes it easy to coordinate everything! In the pack of Neutrals Brads I found two in Crumb Cake to add that finishing touch.

Supplies:
Autumn Splendor Stamp Set, Wood Mount only, 116503, $20.95
Crumb Cake Card Stock, 120953, $6.95for 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11"

Come to Bethlehem

Why do I always try to make my cards so fancy when simplicity can be so stunning?

"Come to Bethlehem" stamp set, two different card stocks and two different inks are all I used for this card, which we are going to make during my holiday card class Wednesday evening, September 29 (an RSVP is required by Friday, the 24th).

And I love the verse inside that comes with this set: "Giving thanks for God's Gift of Love and the joy we share through Christ the Lord."

Christmas Snowflakes

I am having so much fun preparing for my holiday card class in September! And this card is so incredibly easy yet versatile. Just change the wish from "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Birthday" or "Thinking of You" or one of the other wishes in the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

There are only two colors of card stock in this card--Whisper White and Marina Mist. The "Northern Flurry" Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, available in the current Holiday Mini Catalog, provides the interest and the Basic Rhinestones from our collection of Jewels add sparkle.

Minimal Supplies Needed!
Whisper White Card Stock, 100730, $8.50 for 40 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11"
Marina Mist Card Stock, 119682, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11"

Fall Pumpkins

Whether it's for Thanksgiving or for a Fall birthday or just a note, the Harvest Home stamp set fits the bill. This card was designed specifically for my Holiday Card Class where we will make two Thanksgiving/Fall cards and four Christmas cards.

I've used Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, and Always Artichoke card stock along with some Watercolor Paper. Of course, water coloring means Aqua Painters! Notice how I used the words for my background, stamping with Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin' Pad on the Pumpkin Pie card stock. Some eyelets and Hemp Twine through and around the Early Espresso Top Note provide just the right amount of embellishment. The top two layers are mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals, of course.

My class is scheduled for Wednesday evening, September 29 at my home with an RSVP of September 24. The fee of $15 for all six cards is waived for any who spend at least $30. Also, anyone who brings a friend who has never stamped with me before gets to make double of everything--but they will have to work fast. Anyone who hosts a workshop, gets a gift certificate for one of my classes.

Inspired By Nature

Today I decided I needed to design a card using River Rock card stock, a color I seem to ignore. So I paired it with Always Artichoke card stock, which I ran through the Big Shot using the Two Tags Bigz Die. I then stamped Birthday Wishes in Always Artichoke classic ink (Sincere Salutations stamp set) and punched it out with the Scallop Oval Punch. I added a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button Brad. Since those brads are no longer available, you could substitute with a Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brad.

Inspired by Nature is the featured stamp set on this card. I stamped the grasses with River Rock Classic Ink. I then colored the flower side with Bravo Burgundy, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Markers before stamping the image on the front. Obviously, I had to move the stamp down a ways in order to fit the flowers below the tagged greeting. I wasn't sure I liked the card at first, but it has grown on me and I find I am quite fond of it.

Stampin' Write Markers are $3.50 apiece. Order numbers for Bravo Burgundy, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke are, in order: 105109; 119678; and 105113.

River Rock Card Stock: 108640, $6.95, 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11"

Seventh Place

As part of the Heartfelt Stampers Team of demonstrators, I achieved seventh place for sales during the month of August! And this is the card Aly Schilling made to congratulate me. Isn't it simply fun? Actually, I say it is "simply fun" because it is a simple design with a fun, celebratory mood.

The card is Pacific Point card stock (111350, $6.95 for 24 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11")with a coordinating strip of "Celebrations" Designer Series Paper (117164, $9.95, 12 double-sided 12"-square sheets) and a piece of Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon (119265, $8.95, 15 yards) tied around the card above the designer paper. The stamp from the "Word Play" stamp set W 120308, $41.95; C 120651, $28.95) was inked with markers to coordinate with the colors in the paper and then stamped on Whisper White card stock (100730, $8.50, 40 sheets, 8-1/2" x 11"). The Corner Rounder Punch (119871, $6.95), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430, $3.95 for 300) and a Mini Library Clip (109857, $12.95 for 48) finish it off.

I am part of an incredible team of demonstrators--a large team--and so I am truly honored to have achieved seventh place.

Farm Scene

Here is one more card we made at the Grand Achievers Day hosted by Aly Schilling. This one features the "Farm Life" stamp set, which was stamped with Basic Black Craft Ink on Watercolor Paper and then waterclored with Aqua Painters.

Notice the special effects of torn card stock, whether it's already textured by using the Square Lattice embossing folder or just a simple piece of stamped card stock or watercolor paper. This card is Cherry Cobbler with Sahara Sand Textured Card Stock beneath the farm scene. And two layers of Stampin' Dimensionals in this card--under the Sahara Sand and under the watercolor paper.

Farm Life Stamp Set, 114411, $21.95
Watercolor Paper, 105019, $6.95 for 20 (3-3/4" x 5") pieces
Aqua Painter, 103954, $16.95 for two
Basic Black Craft Ink, 102192, $7.50
Hemp Twine, 100982, $2.95 for 12 yards
Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 119976, $7.95

Countryside

Another card we stamped at our Grand Achievers Day hosted by Aly Schilling incorporated various textures with the Countryside stamp set (Wood set, 116986, $22.95; Clear Mount set, 120486, $16.95).

The card itself is Cajun Craze card stock, both smooth and textured. We cut Deck the Halls fabric (121716, $9.95, 3 fat quarters) with the Top Note Bigz Die (113463, $21.95) for the Big Shot--but not until we adhered it to the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet (120805, $14.95 for a dozen 12"x12" sheets). Both the fabric and the adhesive sheets are found in the Holiday Mini Catalog, as is the Big Designer Button (121002, $8.95, 48 pieces). This button is threaded with Hemp Twine (100982, $2.95, 12 yards) and attached with a Mini Glue Dot to a narrow strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Images from the Countryside stamp set are stamped with Basic Black Classic Ink on Sahara Sand and Always Artichoke card stock. The piece of Twill Tape (119970, $5.95, 10 yards) adds another texture when it is fastened with a brad from the Regals Collection (119737, $6.95, 120 brads). And, of course, we can't forget the Curly Label punch used for the image of the rooster (119851, $16.95). Notice how well its shape coordinates with the shape of the Top Note Bigz Die.

Out West

Here is one of the cards we made at Aly's Grand Achievers Day using the Out West stamp set (W 117052, $19.95; C 120543, $14.95):

The "Stampin' Western Roundup!" included not only great barbecue food, but also stamping time. This is one of the four cards we made using Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, More Mustard and Basic Black card stock. The newsprint is from the pack of "Newsprint" designer series paper (117166, $9.95, twelve 12x12" sheets). Look closely and you'll see the black sponging around the edges of the encircled boot (2-1/2" Circle Punch). Some Hemp Twine (100982, $2.95, 12 yards), Basic Black 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (115615, $9.95, 10 yards), and a 5/8" Very Vanilla Jumbo Brad (112534, $7.95, 80 brads in four neutral colors) are the only extra embellishments used for this 4x4" square card, unless you count the torn edges of card stock as embellishments. And, of course, we used Stampin' Dimensionals (104430, $3.95 for 300) behind the boot!

Grand Achievers Day

I made the guest list for Grand Achiever's Day held by my upline, Aly Schilling. Such a great day she planned for all of us, including a scrumptious BBQ lunch. Here is the invitation she sent to each of us:

Of course, the wording on the front was printed from her computer, but the rest is all Stampin' Up! products. Aly carried the Western theme through her decorations and the projects we stamped while there. I'll be sharing those in my next few posts.

"Out West" (W 117052, $19.95; C 120543, $14.95) is perfect stamp set for her invitations and some of her projects. She used Basic Black Classic Ink and Very Vanilla card stock for her images and then cut them out and mounted them with--you guessed it--Stampin' Dimensionals! She once said she uses Stampin' Dimensionals like she uses toilet paper! A little sponging with More Mustard Classic Ink gave everything that cowboy dusty look. The squares of designer series paper are from two different packs: "Newsprint" (117166) and "Build-A-Bear Workshop Pawsitively Prints" (117396); each pack is $9.95 for a dozen double-sided 12x12" sheets. The Poppy Parade 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon (119263, $8.95, 15 yards) is tied with a piece of Hempt Twine (100982, $2.95, 12 yards). The whole design is framed by the Basic Black card.
